Price is Right for Buckeyes

By Alex on January 17, 2011 at 5:54p

It was assumed for sometime, but Ejuan Price made it official tonight, notifying members of the media that he has committed to Ohio State over Iowa and Rutgers.

Price, a 6-0/235 middle linebacker from Woodland Hills High School in the Pittsburgh area, is listed as #10 at his position nationally by and #11 at the slot by ESPN/Scout's Inc. Price was targeted and offered very early and aggressively by the coaching staff, a good sign he is a player Jim Tressel views as a no-brainer, perfect fit for the program, both on and off the field. A cousin of Dorian Bell's, Price is likely to stay in the "MIKE" position when he gets to Columbus this summer.

Price is a huge get for the Buckeyes and, with Conner Crowell and Ryan Shazier, gives the 2011 recruiting class a trio of excellent linebackers. Curtis Grant and James Vaughters are also being targeted at the linebacker position and one or both players could realistically choose the Buckeyes come National Signing Day, giving OSU the best linebacking corps in the country.

It will be interesting to see how things finish down the stretch, but the Buckeyes 21st commitment for this year is certainly a good one.

Which position on defense has been hardest to project over the last 10 years?  It might be LB, which we keep getting guys who aren't what we think they'll be...for better and for worse.  I'm hoping Vaughters comes on board.  He seems like our kind of guy, but I'm glad Price is with us.  Welcome to the greatest school on earth!

Wow, remember when Penn State used to have this state locked down. Another Keystoner heading to OSU.

Since landing Pryor in '08, we've had Penn State bent over the kitchen table when it comes to recruiting in their own backyard...It was Pryor in 2008 who was number 1 in the state... Corey Brown and Dorian Bell who were number 1 and 2 in the state in '09...Corey Brown was another top 5 kid in 2010...

Then add in guys like Andrew Sweat, Jordan Hall and Ejuan Price that were all top 20 kids in their class and it's almost criminal...

Great add. Although I love our 4-3 and think the staff can do some things out of the 4-3 that you dont see from other teams, I would also like to see some 3-4. We would need a true NT to be effective (Big Hank?) But with all the talent we have at LB, itd be hard not to get everyone some PT.

I never saw a football player make a tackle with a smile on his face

We really do play a 3-4 at times with the LEO position. Nathan Williams plays that spot as does Solly Thomas. Basicallt it's a DE/LB hybrid that rushes the qb and drops into coverage as well. Not a true 3-4 but its a form of it.
