Under Armour All-American, Doran Grant, just announced on ESPN that he will be attending The Ohio State University next year.
Grant is a defensive back from Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary who can have an immediate impact in Columbus next season. At 5-10/180, he was excellent at both cornerback and receiver for the Irish in his senior season, and while he'll be spending most of his time defending passes, Jim Tressel has hinted there is a chance he could be catching some while in Scarlet and Gray as well.
This is a huge pick-up for the Buckeyes as corner back is a position of dire need and Grant is ranked as one of the top three at his position in the nation. I actually have Grant as the #1 player in Ohio, ahead of Braxton Miller, so I'm certainly excited to see what he can do for the Bucks in 2011.
Jabari Gorman was the only other Buckeye prospect in this game who announced his decision tonight. He chose Florida over Ohio State and his hometown school of Miami, making the Grant decision even more important.

Dorizzy in the hizzy. Nice.
This had to be written before he actually announced...there's no way someone can type this fast lol.

DID YOU GUYS JUST SEE THAT CATCH?

It was just the typically half back pass back to the quarterback who leaps in the air to make a one handed grab...no big deal.
Yep im at the trop right now. going to get down to the field 2nd half and get a "free" autograph from miller
Sounds like a great kid. Glad to have him on board. Gotta think he'll have a chance for immediate PT
Fumble. Shit.
Braxton looks good against a loaded defense. This kid could start day 1 and give us a chance at miami. 5-0 is not out of reach.
hard to tell. their tackles are getting abused
ya like i said the red defense is sick. maybe better then miami's
miller has been sacked more than anyone....either the d-line is amazing or the o-line is a bunch of band members

Clowney's in the backfield in no time...even when doubled.
ya...so...how much do we need to pay in order to get him here?
"Without winners, there wouldn't even be civilization." -----------Woody Hayes
he'd be worth every penny but this guy has trouble written all over him. if there ever was a one and done player in football this is the guy.
every player on red's d line is 5 stars! its really not fair plus they have a future buckeye at LB in shazier backing up those monsters.
I'm here in person and grant, steve miller, and braxton all look good.
has grant been involved in any of the plays?
"Without winners, there wouldn't even be civilization." -----------Woody Hayes
he has been locking up everyone and had a nice break up/ near pick at the end of the half
Also Shazier looks really fast a LB. He has 3 or 4 tackles.
chances on clowney? anyone?

South Carolina. Wish we had a shot.
Agree...don't even think we'll get a visit
I just don't see why Clowney would play at So. Carolina and never be in a meaningful bowl game. Come to Ohio State and play for titles son!
A player like him will get attention where ever he plays. South Carolina has loyal following. It's close to home and if he always grew up a fan, you can't discount that. Not to mention, he's choosing an SEC school where he knows he'll be on TV every week and potentially in a big game. I'd love to see him here, but it's not as if he is going to Coastal Carolina or something like that.
Doran was out of position when the UF QB commit blew past him (and the entire defense) for the 60+ yard TD scamper. Otherwise, all commits looked good. Was hopoing to see more of Brax, but only a few series from what I DVR'd.

Do you guys have any insight on what the hand symbols Doran Grant threw up during his interview were? I have seen similar in my line of work but don't want to rain on a positive commitment. Maybe they are the secret greetings for his local Boy Scouts of America chapter? Signed /slightly concerned
I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.
I thought he was signing something about his high school. SVSM. We'll give him some block O gloves next year and he can get flagged for it.
Don't worry - someone up above said he's "well-spoken".
Taquitos.
Saw DG play @ Bishop Watterson earlier this year... The kid is deceptively fast and was very explosive on offense. The only visible *knock* (if I can even call it that) was his effort, or lack thereof, on some of the plays. Seemed like he was much more engaged when he knew he was going to get the ball (on offense) vs. when he had to sit back in zone coverage (on defense).
That aside, he had tremendous burst, agility, leaping ability & good hands... (he had a pretty sick sideline interception in traffic during the BW game).
We're going to need him and I'm extremely glad he didn't end up going Green.
p.s. Confucius say: Jadevon Clowney will be the next Julius Peppers (who also went to a less prestigious Carolina BCS school)..
