Ohio State's return trip to Pasadena ends with an outcome not unlike their last visit. The Buckeyes defeat Oregon 26-17.
While the Ducks were hunted as necessary, trust us when we assure you that no animals were hurt in the making of the 2010 Rose Bowl Championship campaign -- except of course that damn monkey that's been on our backs.
O-freaking-H.
Now one last time, we ride, ride, ride, ride...

I-Freaking O
HELL YES BABY!!!!!!!
i am not gay but i would have terrel pryor's babies right now
I O!!!
God it feels good. Now we'll have to get ready for all the hatred and their reasons why we should have lost. Eat it world!
One fricking year the Big 10 goes 1-6 in bowls and all of a sudden we suck. But now, Wisky spanks Miami, PSU dominates LSU and our boys completely control the ducks, all opponents ranked in the top ten this year.
Now what's up?
Go Bucks, 2010 Rose Bowl Champs!
What a way to start off our year toward the NC.
I'm the biggest Buckeye fan in the state of Maine (look it up if u want the facts) and I haven't felt this good since January 2003...take the other BCS bowls we've been in since then and it's not even close to how I (and my amazing family including
my brother Jon) feel right now!! Poppin' Bottles!
It doesn't mean as much to win one of the other BCS bowls except for the MNC game. Winning the Rose Bowl feels great every time!!!
lets crunch some numbers!
total ypg by oregon in 2009: 425 ypg
tonight: 260 yards
ppg in 2009: 38
tonight: 17
times held under 30 points in 2009: 2
times held under 30 points in 2010: 1
times held under 20 points in 2009: 1
times held under 20 points 2010: 1
oregon was only 2-11 on third down and averaged 4.1 yards per passing attempt.
what i'm saying is, our defense is awesome
I-FREAKING-O!!!! I haven't been this happy since Troy spanked scUM.
Oh ps my boy Wood has been here the entire year...don't fuck with these Maine Buckeye fans!
Does anyone have the time of possesion stats, those have to be amazing!
I-O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a night! Cam is a beast, truly hope he doesn't jump early. This was officially the coming out party for Terrelle Pryor that everyone has been clamoring for. And for the Green and Yellow nation: He did it with.....HIS ARM
Minny and NW should have won their games too.
Clearly one of the best days of my life. Feel like staying awake for days but the wife says the kids may suffer if I do. Nevertheless, I feel warm and fuzzy and on top of the world right now.
40 something to 18 something
Us: 41:37, Them: 18:23
Yup, AMAZING.
Ryan Hamby meet Jake Ballard. Catch of the game!!!!!!!
Time of Possession
Bucks: 41:37
Ducks: 18:23
can i watch?
But I think the better stat is:
TP = 338 total yards, Oregon = 260
Never been prouder to be a TBDBITL alum and a Buckeye.
too drunk to appreciate the finer points, but what an awesome game.
I think everyone can join me in giving big thanks to the guys at 11W for an amazing season of coverage of ups and downs and Big 10 redemption.
Let's hope Iowa finishes the job, and we begin the new decade right.
Go Bucks.
I love watching Mark May having to admit that Ohio State played lights out tonight. He's making a face like he's licking dog shit.
I agree - excellent work this season, gentlemen.

This is what happens when USC doesn't represent the Pac-10 in the Rose Bowl. A weak Big 10 team wins the game.
I've never been as proud of Tressel as I was when he went for it on 4th and 1 in field goal range. Even though it only ended up with a field goal, it showed he finally gets it. Phoenix Bound in 2011 IMO.
Suck it. ROSE BOWL CHAMPS!
I'm sorry, I believe your team lost to the one we just beat by four touchdowns. You may have the head-to-head on us, but we beat the Ducks, and they were your champion for a reason.
ahahaha what?!
that was my exact reaction in the other thread
I married into a Buckeye family, so I tend not to be as emotional as my wife about these games. So as an impartial observer, just wanted to say to everyone this was a well executed, well coached game. Pryor went from playing good to playing great in that last drive. Keeping the Ducks off the field was the key to stopping the Duck offense.
I never understood why Oregon was so hyped when their defense didn't show me much the entire season. And why was OSU defense so underrated by everyone???? All I know is I just got a lot of confidence points in my bowl pool!
You make my life living abroad, and being a lifelong Buckeye fan, enjoyable and informed. Bravo gentlemen on turning out a funny and fantastic product!
We need to remind that piece of garbage that we hosed UPitt 72-0 every chance we get....
I O.. great game. Very happy to JT and TP. The future looks bright. TP took a big step forward tonight. i saw a qtrback that stayed composed, checked off, improved accuracy, and aside from the ome pick made some good decisions. This was a solid Oregon team on both sides.
The Buckeye D is just beast. It is unfortunate that JT and his teams dont get more respect.
How bout Northwestern representin. They were robbed but great game. Pat Fitzgerald is a class act with much heart. I loved rootin for the big ten today.
Time to man up Sparty
Go Bucks the year looks bright
Her ass is so gigantically fat it's nauseating.
To me, the play of that game was that long, arcing rainbow throw to Jake Ballard on that key scoring drive, I thought for sure that was going to be picked off. That play will go down as one of the biggest in Buckeye lore. Turns out Pryor's armpunts would have been caught all year long, had they been thrown to Ballard.
Quack! Did someone just step on a duck?
Ran their mouths all week long and could not back it up.
Defense wins games and championships, and that was proven yet again today. Hats off to our silver bullets, for playing a fantastic game against arguably the best offense in college football. We knew Oregon would score some points and have some big plays, but man did the guys play well and more often than not bend but not brake.
And how about that game that Tressel called! Finally, some balance! We all know that Pryor can throw the ball, Jim just needs to let him do it. You could see the confidence build in every throw, and to think that TP's not even 100% healthy.
TP showed again why he is a man among boys, I counted at least 3 throw down stiff arms from the man-child. Alla Beanie. SMACK!
Bravo Buckeyes, lets keep this momentum rolling for next year......all the way to the NCG!
Agreed. HUGE play, and momentum keeper.....
It'll go down with Troy to Gonzo and HOLY BUCKEYE!
Nice Game Tress.... you put the team in a position to win..... you didnt worry about the defense being in a bad position.... you went for it from the start.... now lets see those kinda game plans next season. Get some rest, you earned it!! And Terrelle... you showed me something today... you dug deep and worked it when it mattered most... Thank you!
sam, go away,,, you picked the Ducks on your blog.... you have zero credibilty.
duck season. rabbit season. duck season. rabbit season. DUCK SEASON.
all year i have been as critical as anyone regarding TP. he played an amazing game today, and i am glad he is our QB. I can only hope that the forward progress he made today in terms of maturity will be carried over to the 2010 season. He was not perfect, and neither were his receivers. But he carried himself well. I thought his speech during the post-game interview was exemplary (Troy Smith-esque?). GO BUCKS!!!
Yeah! What's up? The slow Big10 beat that Pac10 speed! How did that happen? E(SEC)PN give us some respect! You were all wrong... Not so fast my friend! Booya! In yo face! Sorry... it just feels so good to prove those douche bags wrong! Thank you Tress and TP for an awesome game... Oh yea, "no name defense" way to kick ass! (no name... as if we don't know who the stars are!) No excuse Oregon... you just got outplayed! Try to not be so cocky next time, if you happen to be significant in your conference ever again... probably not!
OMG it's enormous!
I'll say it again...
PEPPER NEEDS NEW SHORTS!!!!!!!!
Play of the game was the fumble by LaGarrett "Mike Tyson" Blunt.
Come on Ohio St. played Oregon... It's not like playing U of M...
I gotta give props to Dane Sanzenbacher for his performance today. He played a gutsy game. He got hung out to dry a couple times tonight and he paid for it. Sanzy gave up his body tonight, and popped right back up without missing a beat.
Overall, the performance by the WRs was impressive tonight. Posey and Sanzenbacher were able to keep their energy up without 2 members of the rotation to relieve them.
Am I wrong for going to every Duck blog I can find and telling them to suck it? Seriously, they were all over the blogs (here, tBBC, even the Cbus Dispatch) talking trash... Screw those guys (to put it nicely!) Slow Big10 win again!
Thanks, on behalf of the whole group. Jason can't answer because he's at the game but I know he's worked his tail off this whole season. It's been a very enjoyable year.
<3 that play.
Today is even more magical watching Cincinnati get absolutely curbstomped by the SEC runner-up. Hope they enjoyed their run, cocky m-fers. Welcome to the big time.
Haha, completely agree. I never thought I would root for UF after 2006, but tonight I hope they put 70 on the armpit of Ohio.
Oregon blog site, comments after the game. he he...
http://www.addictedtoquack.com...
Watched the game tonight at a Buffalo Wild Wings in N. Brunswick NJ with about 200 other Buckeyes. I am drunk, hoarse and elated. How great for our Seniors to go out with this win? Pryor became a man tonight and the future looks so bright he needs shades. Never been prouder to be a Buckeyes
O-H-!
The 1-2 punch
I-O!!!
UC. Earth. Earth. UC. Oh... you two haven't met? Awkward....
That's an irrelevant comment. USC lost on the field to Oregon and many other this year. All of the major conferences, including the Mountain West, have excellent team, every year, and send dozens of players to the NFL. All of this conference caliber hyperbole is media hype for people who need to get a life.
Biggest OSU win since the National Title game in '03!! SO proud of these guys. Our hoops team blows. Please wake me up in September!!!!
Ok so the bad news is that Gibson, Chewkwa, and Hines are going pro. Heyward is staying. Washington and Thomas are transferring.
It is sooo good to be a Buckeye. I think we end up #5 in the polls.
Checkwa is going pro?!?? Where !??! Does Afghanistan have a professional league?!
Not surprised by Gibson, or Chekwa, although I think the latter flares out. Hines is very surprising to me, as he has no developed coverage skills and will get bumped out of the league quickly. If that's true, it's unfortunate.
Ballard entered the game with just 13 receptions all season, none for more than 19 yards. Ohio State's tight ends often joke about how rarely a pass comes their way, but when it did Friday, Ballard was ready.
"I was improvising a little bit," Ballard said. "My guy didn't come off the edge, so I went to the flat and saw TP moving around back there. I went upfield, he saw me, threw it up, and I went up and got it.
"I'll remember that forever."
OH-IO. Beautifully called, beautifully executed, class win. Those vanilla ice duck fans just got the discipline-switch. I cannot be more pleased with the staff, our Signal Caller, or our Bullets. Fine piece of football gentleman. Cheers, I am celebrating like a viking. Tressel is one foxy SOB. Great game plan by he and Heacock. They showed the ability to adapt and overcome, something I was wasn't sure they were capable of. Hats off! Fuck Yeah, Victory is mana-fruit!
Translation: I am pretty sure he's horrible.
From what I hear Hines has family to take care of.
Hey guys, let's get together and laugh at Cincy!
Back to irrelevance after just two years.
source please?
Also, if Hines is gone, and Chekwa, that means we lose Coleman, Russell, Hines, and Chekwa from the secondary, leaving Torrence as the only player in the back 4 with significant playing experience; anyone that follows OSU recruiting in depth knows that while there is talent waiting in the wings, it is extremely untested. I'm excited about next year, but losing so much on defense could hurt us significantly.
Remember we reload not rebuild.
HAH-HAH!
Damn, it feels good.
Florida grapevine - hope I am wrong and if I am so be it. thats why you recruit.
WINNERS!!!
In hindsight it's so obvious that Oregon is a Pan 10 team with a first year coach that Ohio State could throw all over. I'm still surprised the way the Bucks won.
They are a MAC school pretending to be a major college.
Yes and the PAC10 is obviously down this year, based on the bowl games, so the Big 10 is still slow incapable of beating a real top 5 team.
Hot Damn! for everyone.
Best comment from the 2nd half thread on AddictedToQuack:
"I HATE that g** d*** white stripe song so much."
Yes, you do. (insert evil grin)
Fire Tress, Pryor sucks, bla bla bla.
watching the game on DVR right now, making sure that it wasn't only awesome in person.
oh yeah, Blount punched me after the game.
not sure where you're getting that info, i've read that chekwa's dad said tonight to some dudes that hes coming back. but who knows. gibson is most likely gonzo but he's made some ambivalent comments about it recently. cam looks like he might stay which would rule, but who knows.
i think we'll only really know for sure once the draft evals come back
that's awesome.
oregon fans weren't bad in person. they didn't have much to say before, during or after the game(yes, a back-handed joepa joke)
Come on--don't make me sorry I rooted for OSU tonight as a Big Ten team playing out of conference!
we had around 419 total yards.
Yeah I honestly don't mind Pac 10 fans, Pac 10 and Big 10 are the closest in terms of tradition and academics, and they lack the country-bumpkin type of the SEC and Big 12. USC fans rub me the wrong way, but not because they win so much; it's because they are fair weather (see, booing their team this year).
I think Oregon fans truly believed that their offense would run all over us, and that Pryor would be kept in check. Once Heacock and Fickell made adjustments to contain the lateral zone read stuff and forced the runs inside into the waiting arms of our LBs and safeties, it shut their offense into third and too long mode. They didn't have the passing ability to keep their team on the field.
Great win. The best since Tempe.
all LA sports fans are fair-weather. see the christmas day cavs game at staples for the most recent example.
I knew UC would get destoryed tonight, of course you know they excuse they'll use. We lost our coach, blah blah blah. Of course there's no one who will mention the fact they got dominated last year.
welcome back to irrelevance cincituckey. :)
I think the only one that really stings is Coleman, which we knew he'd be gone anyway. Everyone on here bashes Russell all the time. Checkwa takes a beating too. They'll fill the gaps in and be ok. The losses on defense will be significant, keepy Heyward is huge though. The LB's and Line are still going to be tough, and I think that'll be enough early on to keep the team winning.
Ya sam go root for someone else.
I was sooo nice to have ABC/ESPN coverage this year vice FOX. Fox coverage feels all creepy and stale.
"You're looking live...." Goosebumps for the Granddaddy.
Love it.
I was driving down the road before the game and Chip Kelly was interviewed. The reporter said what do you think about this Buckeye defense you are about to face. He basically said, it's by far the best we've seen this year. They are really fast and I don't know where all the talk about the Big 10 being slow comes from. He said if they are no one has told them in Columbus.
Anyway, listenning to him I could just tell he was not very confident in his team's chances tonight. I really think he knew this was going to be the hardest game he would play and that Gimmick offense may not work.
Monkey kindly remove thy self from thy back...thank you!
GO BUCKS!!!!
Brian Kelly was smart as hell to jump ship before this embarrassment.
Remember smug-ass Chip Kelly saying TOP wouldn't matter? Anyone happen to see him say Jim Tressel is a three syllable coach where as he is one: speed? Welcome to the big leagues rookie.
It's great to WIN!!!!!! Now all the arguments change! HELL FREAKING YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I liked the "Tressel clock Nazi time management" comment, too, in the ATQ comments. I think it was at the end after the missed kick and they were watching their season tick away. Also how they were bagging on Kelly after calling him a genius the day before.
Hey, Chipper Kelly; I've got your time-of-possession right here!
+1
Wow, so what will doubters say about Ohio State to cheapen the win this time? I can't wait to hear the local sports talking heads about UC's game too. Would Florida hang 50 on the Bucks? Nope, come to think of it, and I could be wrong, but in my 16 years of following this team, I can't recall someone score 50 on the Bucks, even in bad years.
AHHHH
dude the trojans beat us by three they put up 20+ on you quackers and if usc would have play us in the rose bowl we would have shut them down just like your dicks
Well that's only because Oregon scores TD's in like 30 seconds and their D gives up so many points because they are on the field for so many more plays. If you look at the yards per play Oregon's D isn't that much worse. The gimmick offense will score on anyone.
Oh what's that? They only scored 17 and Pryor shredded them? That's what I've been saying would happen for weeks.
Listenning to Kelly before the game and Oregon fans leading up to the game, I didn't understand the fact that their whole gameplan was contingent on Pryor not playing well. Don't you try to find ways to actually force your will on other teams, not hope the QB for the other team screws up?
Who do you fill in the spots with? All of the talent in the wings has yet to prove itself and will be young. Oriahn Johnson was unable to snag a spot. Jamie Wood and CJ Barnett and Travis Howard are all possibilities, but they have not played themselves into the rotation in an arguably suspect group, outside of Chekwa and Coleman. I'm just nervous about the reloading, where you have to insert these guys with no game experience, against UMiami team with stud athletes and a gun-slinging QB in Jacory Harris. If we want to play for the MNC, we need to handle UMiami at home, and pressure will be on our secondary from the start. Here's hoping that spring and fall ball whip these young DBs into shape right quick.
great victory ... nuff said
u missed penn st 94' but i dont want to think of that. Rose bowl champs! Next year will be all good:)
Florida came pretty damn close against what was one of our greatest teams of all time. The D in 2007 wasn't nearly as nasty as this D was though. I can't remember a defensive line getting after it like this year's has. They've been incredible.
Umm, just where do you get that Chekwa is so horrible? He's saved our butts on many plays, especially when there were players close to getting a TD. IMO, a most underrated player...
Is it time for the Spring game yet? I already can't wait until next season. This should be great for recruiting too..
Go Big Ten! and GO BUCKS!
Wow, I'd almost forgot what it felt like to end the season with a win. Damn it feels good...
The Silver Bullets played lights out, can't say enough about their discipline in containing Masoli & Co. Let's hope Pryor can bring that kind of decision making into next year
Thanks 11W for outstanding coverage this season. being military and stationed overseas makes following tOSU somewhat difficult. I rely on your excellent coverage to keep me informed! What a way to wrap the season - O-H-I-O!
Kelly: "Tressel is a 3 syllable guy, I'm a one syllable guy... We're FAST."
Why don'tyou run your asses back to the bus...Real FAST-LIKE??
Ha! Love it!!
Not sure what the best quote of the night is:
"It will be nice to sit back and think about what we have coming back," offensive coordinator Jim Bollman said. "We only lose two starters on offense."
And only four on defense, Bollman was reminded. His smile grew broader.
"We may be a pain in the ass again," he said.
or
"Time of possession, I was not worried about," Kelly said.
Are torrents of the game up yet?
That's my whole point though. The loss that will hurt is Coleman. I don't know why Checkwa thinks he's going to get drafted at all. I just don't see it. Hines has potential but not so sure he is someone people will be chomping at the bit to draft either. Whatever talent is waiting in the wings, isn't going to be much worse than what's out there in my opinion.
haven't found any, i checked TYT and BuckeyePlanet
Yea Sam, you p.o.s. non-homer! Stop giving an honest opinion and pick the Bucks every time. Gosh!
Quote of the day, Tressel to Lisa Salters: "well Lisa, you've been listening to the wrong people!"
Greatest offenses of all time.
BuckeyePlanet poster says Chek is coming back. And it's much needed. He may need to, um, refine his ball skills.
A few observations if I may:
The spring game is April 24, 2010- I can't wait and I hope T-Wash sticks around to star and go back to back to back with a big spring game:)
Oregon was almost as arrogant as Isaiah Pead and Cincy. He showed what he was made of when push came to shove(pun intended!!!!) I don't care if Brian Kelly, Chip Kelly or Gene Kelly for that matter was coaching them, that ticky tacky shit doesn't work against a real team with legitimate talent
I like the "Velocity" we used to dominate in the trenches on both sides of the ball, (I trust Chip Kelly will use that term since he likes it:)
Desmond Howard, and Jesse Palmer looked like they swallowed a huge load of chud and were choking on it because they weren't able to rattle off the company line criticism of the Buckeyes.
I loved how after the game TP had his moment in the sun. It was beautiful to see.
what about Grace Kelly?
Awesome:) I love it!!!
Isn't it great to be a Buckeye today?????
USC fans need to be reminded of the reality of their program's values.

Reggie Bush didn't leave early for the NFL because he didn't want to take a pay cut.
