Talk about a blow to what has been a great start to the 2009-2010 basketball season, Evan Turner will miss 8 weeks with a transverse process fracture on the second and third lumbar vertebra of his spine.
Turner was leading the team in points, rebounds, and assists and his production will have to be made up through a contribution of his teammates, particularly David Lighty, Jon Diebler, and William Buford, stepping up in his absence. In NCAA hoops it is important t have both a big man and a point guard if you want to do any damage in conference play, and with an already thin front line, the Buckeyes will have to play without their lead man.
It will be interesting to see what happens from here on out, but with games against Butler and West Virginia left on the out of conference slate and going on the road for four of the first five Big Ten games will not be pleasant without The Villian. The rest of the December and the month of January will tell us how good this team truly can be as they will be without their leader. Perhaps a chance for the WB to finally come through?

Uh Oh, I just sharted.

2 big injuries in back to back years!
On to next year, how 'bout them recruits?
unbelievable. what a shitty break...matta has to be floored based on his original comments...man, if ET ends up coming back for senior year, this team is loaded...
This totally blows.
Although I could see Turner coming back for a Senior season to rebuild his draft status.
Welp. Guess I can skip watching OSU basketball for a while. Just sayin.
And...USC lost again. How could we not beat them?
USC got a lot worse as the season went on, we got a lot better. we'd probably destroy them now in a rematch.
also this is terrible news, but i really don't see it causing the Villain to come back his senior year. he's got legit NBA talent right now, and it'd be dumb for him to risk another injury. we should be somewhat okay without him, we're definitely not a top 25 team sans Villain, but our defense should still be good enough to keep us afloat.
the nice thing about NCAA bball is that its a long season and by the time march comes around we should be back on track.
Man, that sucks big time. Turner has been ridiculous!
Nooooooooo!
That ain't right at all. Wake me up in February.
Titus will have to pick up the slack......or can we get Sullinger to skip the rest of his Senior Year in HS??
Ha.
Let's go .500 til he gets back, dominate February and March.
I think many are underestimating the recovery issues ET will face...you don't just come back from a broken back and be the same player you were before right away.....this could be more trouble then we think
!!#$#%^&*&!!!!!!!
Ummm...guys, can we please have a screen freeze of Tebow crying?! :)
won't happen, that'd be blaspheming
I smell a NIT championship.....
HOLY FUCKING SHIT! Sorry for the language really, but my lord, that Texas game is why college football is the best sport on the planet!!!!!!!
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
meanwhile, Oden out for the season again. Not a good day for star OSU ballerz.
can any ohio state team catch a dammm break, this team full of veterans has been such a joy to watch, doing it the right way, great TEAM chemisty... staying in school to build on their skills (cough) b.j, kosta (cough). get better E.T- you make OSU nation proud
Here's to a young, healthy and strong body healing faster than anticipated!
...and against Eastern (Freakin') Michigan?!
Oh, and not to go off-topic, but... is it safe to declare that the football team had, not just 2 losses this year, but 2 bad losses? Losing to U$C at home, at night now looks pathetic.
Oh, and Toby Gerhart gets my Heisman vote (Yea.. I know... I don't have one).
Let's just hope ET can get healthy and still be a high pick in the draft. The kid's career after OSU is what's really important.
Except for the fact that an over-rated Texas squad will get the nod over a more deserving TCU squad......and Alabama is breathing a HUGE sigh of relief. Texas will be squashed by Bama, and it's a shame, because TCU would give them a much better game, even dare I say beat them?
Is it just me, or doesn't it seem like the Bucks match up very well with all of the teams ranked ahead of them? I mean, watching the (sorry but true) mostly boring SEC this year, and the no D Pac 10, when the Boys play well, they are hard to beat. To be honest, the 2 teams I think we'd have some trouble with would be TCU and Boise St. Absolutely NO D Cincy? Come on. Texas? We all know we can beat THAT squad. Bama or Florida? Beatable with a good game.
I know that's a big if/when, but really, this team is young and still growing. Watching Bama last night, they look just like us. Tough D, and an offense that can be explosive when it clicks (with the exception of J.Jones, who's a man-child) Their qb had the game of his life, and Florida was finally exposed to be what they are this year: beatable.
LOVED seeing T-bow cry after the game.....that was PRICELESS. Suck it, Turdbow.
Oh, and get well soon Evan, we're all pulling for you. Glad its not worse....

Nice, Flip!
God Damn I feel bad for Greg Oden! Is Turner's injury in anyway career threatening? God we have been f*cking plagued since Jan 2007.
Add the fact that Mike Redd has been out most of the year, and he 3 greatest Buckeye Ballers of the last 10 years have been hurt big time this year.
Scott, i think it's just you bro. The Bucks are right where they deserve to be. That's not to say we can't be the best team in the country next year. But, right now, we lose by 3 scores to Bama or Florida. Texas is another story, I think we could give them a very good game. And who knows, if we don't drop a gigantic turd in West Lafayette, we might have been in the conversation for the MNC this year. But Bama and UF's defense would have eaten our offense alive. it was a rebuilding year, nothing wrong with admitting that.
But damn, nothing like Teblow going down in his final year.
Conley is looking pretty good. Starting to gel with Mayo. I saw this coming with Oden, he just isn't put together very well.
are you still intrested?
Oh, yeah man. Sorry, I've been real busy. Give me your e-mail and I will open a g-mail account and contact you.
your fine, i was just curious.

This team is still good enough to make the Ncaa without him. In a way this will help the offense. Turner was a good player but he turned it over way too much to be running the offense. Put Hill at point and If diebler and buford can knock down shots I like their chances. Lighty will pick up some of the slack. It will take a team effort to make up the 20 points they will be missing. Still plenty of firepower left on the floor.
I know it's been a "rebuilding year", but don't keep drinking the SEC kool-aid. Both Bama and Florida are NOT the teams the Bucks faced in 2006 and 2007. These teams have weaknesses (as does ours), and if exploited, reap benefits.
Saying we'd get beat by 3 scores by both teams is just baseless speculation. We possess a top 5 defense, as do they. And if our offense (which would be fully healthy by bowl game) continued to improve as we've seen over the past few games, it would be a great match up.
Whether you think it or not, we match up well with any of the top teams, and baring any major injuries next year, should be playing in the NCG come January.
to quote tebag: 13:32
“if thou can’t win just be a crying little bitch about it!”
his tears sustain us... i mean seriuosly what a little bitch this douche is like 240lbs and has the emotions of a 45 lbs little adoselent girl. temper-tantrums on the sideline while they are losing and big old crocodile tears when it over. what somebody take your little pony away to the island of misfit toys. maybe mark may can give you a tissue douchebag
X-rays being negative are the new positive.
Someone told me that Matta made a comment similar to your post, about his concern for ET after he recovers. Could this be it of his BBall career?
