Saine, Herron Share Honors from Iowa Game
Boom and Zoom shared weekly offensive honors for their performances Saturday:
Linebacker Ross Homan, with an interception and eight tackles, is the defensive player of the week. Tailbacks Dan Herron and Brandon Saine, who combined for 200 rushing yards and three scores, are the offensive players of the week. Kicker Devin Barclay is the player of the week on the special units.
Jim Cordle was named as the Jim Parker lineman of the week. Austin Spitler received the Attack Force award on defense. The Jack Tatum big hit of the week has not been decided.
Players of the week on the scout teams: Chris Malone (offense); Keith Wells (defense); Jordan Whiting (special units).

How does Homan not get the Jack Tatum hit of the week when he layed that dude out in the middle of the field?
agree, i think it was the fullback who got jacked up on that one…a fullback, guys.
Yeah, it’s weird. Seems like every week we get the standard: “The Jack Tatum big hit of the week has not been decided.”
not quite sure what’s going on.
If there’s not a Jack Tatum hit award after next week, they should just drop it. Has there even been a single one this entire year? Maybe replace it with the “Richard Simmons Arm Tackle of the Week” Award? Jack Tatum was a nasty guy who made nasty hits. Embrace it, or just drop it. This sport is a poor choice to not embrace violence.
It still gets awarded, it’s just decide by player vote later than the rest, so it doesn’t make this press release. I think occasionally they decide not to give it out, but then it usually says “was not awarded,” not “has not been decided.”
Cordle? Is this a mercy award? He even admitted he was schooled most of the afternoon when he was interviewed after the game. Other than Saine’s big run on his side, he was the Anti-Parker for the most part.
I’d say the sack in OT deserves the Tatum…
Good to see some young scholarship players on the scout team Players of the Week list. Seems like too often it’s walk-ons, leading me to wonder why these 4-5 star studs aren’t busting their asses in practice.
On bucknuts.com it was said that JT stated that Keith Wells is being redshirted this year but wasn’t cause of injury. Does anyone know what the reason was???
Probably the fact that the Bucks are about 12-deep with badasses on the D-line.
BTW…Smartest move in recent memory !!!!! Justin Boren transferring !!!!!
& Zach ain’t bad either ! It should be a nice homecoming.
Ryan Mallett second best move.
