I'm feeling a bit weird about this game. It's one I should be worried about, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't. You can all pile on if Juice gets it done, but I'm having a really hard time imagining the Illinois offense putting together too much on the afternoon. Especially if things get wet.
Sure, Zook and Williams are returning to the spot of their signature win, but what I anticipate seeing is a young offense take another step on the road towards goodness. Some more Hazell to go with an Illini defense that is a shell of the unit Leman powered (and down Martez Wilson to make matters worse) should be just what the doctor ordered for Pryor and company.

Let's do this!!!!! Go Buckeyes!!!
What happened to superimposing the guys from the team onto WW2-esque type photos?
By the way, shouldn't this be the Ohio State vs Illinois Twitterverse? Just sayin'...
ESPN is treating this as a Ho-Hum game. In fact, if I didn't know better, I would think the Bucks weren't playing today.
Pam Ward hates people who are awake. Her goal is for everyone listening to an ESPN broadcast to fall asleep.
Go Bucks!!! And Tebow might not play today!! This might be one of the best saturdays we've had in a while.
Gotta love the rainbow sherbet tie Spielman's sporting on ESPN right now. "Who wants to say something about my tie? You Griese?"
It should. Thanks for the heads-up.
Indiana giving scUM all they can handle right now....
Yeah, scUM not looking too impressive in my eyes.
Personally, not looking forward to this game. With the forecast on the day, everyone should expect running constant. Hoping that isn't the case but maybe we'll see additional touches from Saine & Hall.
I love how they squeaked by ND and then walloped a couple of directional schools and Wolverine Nation thought they were back. Case in point, feeling confident enough to post garbage like this:
http://mgoblog.com/content/din...
Now, they might and probably still will pull off the win today against the Hoosiers, but back? Hardly.
IU needs TD's on those short fields though. FG's arent going to cut it
Michigan's defense is awful. The only reason the Hoosiers aren't putting up touchdowns is because they're the Hoosiers.
anyone else think Penn State takes the "white" out a little too literally?
Terrelle didn't say they were "a little too country" without reason
I'll take ohio state and their d any day over this team
what a piss poor call. that really pisses me off.
The refs with the screw job on Indiana...
Yep, that was weak.
Need some help ASAP. If Justin.tv doesn't have the game, what other options do I have (FREE options) to listen/watch the game online?
That was a poorly officiated game in general. Forcier got away with like 9 IGs
Never mind. Even though the coverage map says I shouldn't be getting the game, I'm getting it. Money.
You can't get ESPN?
That's one of the most blatantly horrible calls I've ever seen. The referees DO know that those catches by rule go to the offense right? Then again, it IS U-M...they need this win and CFB needs them on top again.
Sweet.
Does this work? It's on a bit of a delay.
http://www.channelsurfing.net/...
Breaking in new necklaces, FUCK the Illini, glad they went to mid-field to protect the O.
That was poopy
Not a great starting possession...
Awesome start.
and a worse punt...
Why does TP have a hospital bracelet on? Starting off BAD!
Well, that was just brutal. Bad punt, too.
Will they go - a la '07?
F!
Nice block in the back.
YES!!!!
Brian Rolle = Truth.
Juice being Juice. Rolle being Rolle.
Rolle!!!
I love how not only is he making plays on defense, but Rolle is immediately scheming of a way to score once the ball is in his hands. Like Ed Reed a bit.
I want to see an Illini player get seriously hurt. They talk A LOT of trash.
I said it.
Am I the only one seeing massive holding by the Illini OL? Especially on that pick.
Pitch the ball son.
Way to silence your critics on your decision-making, Pryor.
Terrelle Pryor is the slowest 4.3 runner I've seen.
Beat me to it...that was beyond horrible...almost looked lazy on the run, like he did not respect the defender chasing him.
I run a 7.3 40!
I'd like to see someone on this offense beat someone on their defense. Put Brian Rolle at FB!!!
Illini kick return team making a very Illini like play.
Cameron Heyward wants to destroy Juice.
Such soft coverage... wtf?
Shades of the Florida game.
Remember when 3rd & 6 used to mean punt?
Hines tackles like Deone Sanders
Penn State's Clark will be a lot like Juice - hard to bring down.
Usually after a nasty 10-yard sack, too.
No.
Fair catch at the 9? Senior leadership from Small.
Torrence hasn't impressed early. Ineffective on blitzes as well as coverage. (That's it, no more negative posting from me.)
OMFG some yardage after contact by Saine
Okay, Saine's starting to win me over just a bit.
Dude? A consistent running game? Has this just been on the bench or are we blocking better?
In-Saine....we trust.
Blocking better. That twitter link is tough to use.
WTF was the screw job in the scUM game?
Still sticking to my vote of Saine beating Herron to 100 yards in a game.
Indiana receiver and Michigan DB both hit the ground with the ball in their hands, which by rule goes to the receiver. Refs gave it to Michigan's DB, who wrestled it away after like five minutes on the ground.
Saine may get to 100 before the end of the half.
FLAG?
Looking a lot like last season's game.
We won last year with 49 yards through the air, so I'm inclined to agree
Does pryor feel like playing today?
Games like this are when everybody loves Tressball whether they're willing to admit it or not. Just think if we were a spread team that didn't know how to run the ball and had to rely on the pass.
Why oh why did we abandon running to the left? It worked so well the whole drive and then we abandoned it and the result is yet ANOTHER field goal!
We have the potential, we just need to stick with what works!
Illinois piling up yards, but Juice killing them. Buckeyes making them pay. A lot like last year.
TV Timeout interference????
WTF?!?
Gotta love Big Ten officials...wow.
We'll probably also never see as consistent a kicking game as we've had under Tress again.
Va Tech up 14...
I think it's just a weak Illini D-line. That and protecting the midfield Block-O.
/licks chops for next season game
good im sick of hearing of miami being back... wait till they come to the shoe next year
Well, Illinois held their first two opponents to 2.8 YPC. Neither were great rushing offenses, but I don't think they're terrible.
We want them to be good next year to help our case when we beat them.
Can we get a stop?
Cooper's special teams units were night and day compared to Tressel's. It's like he didn't even have a special teams coach.
They'd do return damage because the guy returning the ball was a supernatural athlete, but punting and kicking were pretty brutal.
Hey, who was hurt before they went to break?
Official gets credited with INT break-up
Marcus Williams? 24.
Gibson just missed getting his first sack of the season.
Ugh that was a total gimme...
Anderson Russell for ya
It is wet, but A-Russ needed that one to get his confidence going.
thats what she said
Is Mike Doss on the coaching staff now ?
Nice.
Pryor bailed out there.
Pryor's 1st gain. Woo hoo.
God bless these stupid Illini.
LOL man Illini are thugs...
Thank goodness Ron Zook can recruit.
ILL has always played OSU dirty in the Zook era.
almost, boom. darn shoe tackles.
DAMN. Every time Boom looks like he'll break free he gets shoestring tackled. Pick your feet up son!!!
We were spoiled with Beanie, eh?
We need a GD TD
Buckeye Battle Cry!!!
Herron just re-learned how to fall forward
Definitely.
bout time
127 through the air and 0 on the ground.
In opposite world.
One of the few times I love the one-sided play calling. Only cuz it's working....
I see Pryor having some big runs in the 2nd half for some reason. Does anyone know if the rain might let? I'd love to see him compliment it with some passing.
Derlinger.
Will he stop calling him Derliger? Damn Greasy.....
Turd Durlinger
Don't forget the other new addition to our roster: Russell Anderson.
D is waking up...
Russell Anderson locks down the deep zone
Haha.
Doppler says it may in the 2nd half.
Reminds me of San Antonio Holmes.
I could be wrong, but I just get the feeling that if we had this D in 2007, there's no way in hell they let Juice run it down their throats for eight minutes to end the game.
Hmm.. not sure how that came out like that.
Saine was working too well. Time to bench him.
I'm nitpicking, but 0 passing yards against the 119th ranked pass defense is not good.
I love that commercial. Last year, for my annual trip home, mixed with many many Budweiser's, I thought it'd be proper to go up to every person in navy blue and yell "COME TO PENN STATE!!!!" as loud and crazy as possible. No voice back at the office for a week.
Can't wait for the trip for the Minnesota game, bringing the girl back for some indoctrination.
Thought you were done with the negative comments.
Sweat sighting - 2 points.
Running game actually working, HEAVY rain, no need to.
When I watch that I always append "...AND I'LL EAT YOUR BRAINS!!!" (JoePa = zombie)
Nice!
Now a look at our DEVASTATING two minute offense
LOL - beat me to it.
Sweet Jesus.
Not if Ray Small has anything to say about it!
god dammit ray small
Damn Ray Ray
Player of the 1st half....yellow hankie
Fayson's got a case of the Taurians
Wouldn't it be great if Ohio beat Tenn?
Where was he throwing that lol..
Holy holding. Thank you.
Quote of the day: "You always practice with wet balls."
Illinois' line held like mothers there
Vag Tech up 21
No, because the only thing ESPN would say is "OU has beaten more SEC teams in the last 15 years than OSU" or something similarly stupid
That looked like a TD to me.
Could someone get Chekwa a 5-hour energy drink?
Just kidding.
Miami down 21 now
Where's Braylon Edwards, the 5-hour energy designated driver when you need him?
Well, apparently Zook will throw in that rain and Tressel won't...
Me dislikes me some Ray Small. What are we going to do without him!?
watching the va tech/miami game and i'd trade tp after 4 years for either of these teams qb's now!
wtf? Tyrod Taylor has been actively terrible for VT for years.
I actually like the Oregon throwbacks.
and tp impresses you more, c'mon. we need to be honest with ourselves.
Drew, Ty Taylor is worse. By far.
Dude.
Taylor and Harris are a combined 5 of 14 for 126 yards. Eat it.
and 49 of those yards came on one play. DIAF
prediction tonight: Tebow throws for 330 yards 3 tds 1 td rushing, turns water into wine for boosters in the press box, and is discovered that his blood is the cure for cancer
Me, too.
i do as well, reminds me of days before oregon had 564 uniform combinations
Taylor has 11 career TDs to 11 INTs
Kind of like, "...they lose Hartline and Robiskie, two of the best wide receivers in the history." What, what? What are going to say? Go on finish. History of what? Not in the league. Not in Buckeye history. Didn't quite know how to finish that one, which is why he cut himself short.
Still can't understand why an announcer makes a claim like, "..one of the best (position) player in all of college football..." just about every game. That adds up to a lot of "bests" at the same position at the end of the year.
Tress and Beamer could commiserate with each other. Sure, they both had Troy and Vick. And they will always stick by their guns (defense, special teams). But can they develop tremendous QB talents in the ever changing world of college football?
Apparently St Tebow can't cure Swine Flu. He and a number of other players needed to fly on a 2nd chartered flight to not infect the rest of the team from "respiratory and chest congestions".
I wish Small were never on this team! Has he ever done anything positive?
The punt return vs. Ohio and that long catch at Penn State (did that result in any points, though?)
It's the total Michael Jordan effect. He's sick and if he plays like shit, he has an excuse. If he gives another one of his overly theatrical motivational speeches on the sideline again and plays great, it will go down as one of the most inspired games by any player in any sport ever.
Prediction: Tim Tebow becomes the first player in NCAA history to win two Heismans in the same season and one after graduation.
no i did, he is like the dos equis "most interesting man on the planet" he got sick once...just to see how it feels.
Hello Thaddieus
+10
Nice
Is college football a magnet for douchebag announcers/analysts?
is this the first game ron franklin has ever announced? his performance might be worse than illinois.
That was... beautiful.
Seems to be the theme the past couple games... Every time the opposing team finally gets a drive going the defense makes a HUGE play.
A new trend this game: no O-line penalties (knock on wood).
Ditto...helmets used to have a green and white stripe as well back in the day.
Why is it the throwbacks are always better (see Chargers, Bills)? The only ones that were really horrible were the Buccaneers (and some of the White Sox unis, especially w/ the shorts and collars).
Enter bad TP.
Am I being impatient wanting too much out of Pryor's growth? It's just hard to see sometimes.
Not really. Those boneheaded passes just don't seem to be going away.
I'm a Yankees fan, but I think Ohio's baseball teams have some of the most underrated unis. The Indians throwbacks are gorgeous, while the Reds are just classic.
When they told Juice it would be like "basketball on grass", did anyone remind him he couldn't pass the football by bouncing?
Air Worthington!
Not at all, especially when we see other young QBs around the country getting it done, and they weren't given anywhere near the hype job TP got.
D-Line is just laughable at times with what they can do.
Where's "Shifty" Hall at damnit?
JB "False Starts" Shugarts
LOL
+2 drinks for you
Excellent point. Hall earned some PT here. Especially given the score.
Cal = exposed (39-3)
Are the ESPN announcers defending Tressel? I have to say I think they're right. After all, only a year ago, we were blaming everything on Heacock's defense, and now the defense is great because we have different people. It's possible we're making the conservative calls we are because of who we've got: a mostly inexperienced, but promising, offense.
Correct, and that slurping sound coming from Ed Cunningham's mouth is also 100% justified. This d-line is beyond filthy.
2nd'd
I'd still like to see Saine in there to get another 19 yards we need to get at least one of our RB's 100 yards
Who would've thought....JT up 23 and OPENING the playbook...wow
Go Shifty!!!!
Damn you, Pryor
It seems like the issue of relaying the play call to Pryor has been temporarily resolved.
Man, really needed a 50 yard INT return by Jermale so I could justifiably slip in a "Hines 57" pun into an article.
Did that retard just say "Notre Dame twenty.... Ok....". What a jack-off!
Good catch, Bobby. You're right. Thank Hazell for that?
Oh Terrelle, how can I stay mad at you when you run like that?
oops that was supposed to go at the bottom.
TIGHT END RECEPTION ALERT! TIGHT END RECEPTION ALERT!
Everybody drink!
I wasn't sure he did, I had to go back and hear it again but yes, yes he did.
Evil Jim.
I cannot get enough of Joe Pa in that Big 10 commercial!
going for it on fourth! Hooray for Evil Tressel!
again? Dammit!
he returns.
Wow - that was a big FU to Illinois.
Evil Tressel........
Holy shit, Evil Jim Tressel showed up!
What was the official reason on why Juice is out? Who's McGee?
4 years minus 1 game of suckiness.
Coleman has lost all cred this season thus far, to me. I hate those hits.
Especially in garbage time....
evil zook is coming out, field goal will ruin the shutout
O H!
or not do a hand shake...
Did they just say a 30-0 shut out was unimpressive?
That he did
WOW, on what grounds? I had stopped listening by then
But we play in the B10 so really it's like playing in DI-AA god I hate ESPN's college football coverage
Apparently its because Juice looked like crap and so did TP so that made the whole game unimpressive.
i would TP was less than impressive
Jesse Palmer: 30-0 "unimpressive" - Ohio State wins a "sloppy game"
I hate that guy
Just when I think ESPN can't do or say something to piss me off any more than they already have, they say stuff like that.
So how many spots in the polls do we drop this week?
I think after that unimpressive win we drop out of the top 25
Actually it was the black dude. Jesse said they didn't need to excel on offense.
Well, hopefully the SEC network can fold due to inability to read cue cards. Or read anything at all for that matter.
Maybe they have to hire some of the eSECpn's network staff head down from Conn. to help them work the camera's.
Not exactly.
Yes he did what an ASSBAG!
I was wondering what was done for Tressel to pile on like that? Then I'm not sure that after the game that Zook shook hands or not.
That was a pretty nasty hit. I'm sure he wasn't trying to hit his head back like that...but still, not the sort of thing you ever want to see.
Well at least the announcers didn't announce that OSU was on defense (when they were really on offense) like a week ago vs. Toledo.
i'll throw this right out there: brian rolle, best OSU linebacker ever
And of course there was no mention of the downpour that limited the passing games of each team.
One thing to keep in mind is that the USC vs. Ohio State game was the top rated football game ever in ESPN history.
Now I know there are a lot of Buckeye and Trojan fans out there, but not that many to warrant such a rating.
ESPN has found a formula that works for them...(aka makes them money).
Keep Ohio State in the dialogue somehow, some way.
Trust me...they know how to push the collective buttons of fans nationwide.
ESPN has mastered the process of how to play both sides (OSU fans vs. OSU haters) against the middle to rake in the cash for the boys in Bristol.
bup bup bup...unless you've just started watching the Buckeyes in the last 4 weeks that might be a bit naive
you're right, maybe i should rephrase: who is the best buckeye LB of all time, brian rolle or brian rolle?
answer: trick question. the correct answer is brian rolle
lulz
pryor need to get better if ohio state is going to win it all. take the easy pass everything can't be a big play. that is his biggest problem right now.
d is nasty even without the blitz. best d since? 05'
Shoot, they barely mentioned the game at all during the post game wrap up. They said how miserable a performance it was and then chatted it up about every other game in the nation.
We are the Scarlet Scourge!!!
Wee man brings the wood!!!
Pryor needs to get the same treatment Beanie is getting right now... Carry a ball (tucked goddammit!) at all times while teammates attempt to strip it. Otherwise he may never learn the lesson!
Tebow got JACK UP!!!
Can someone confirm this for me: Pryor did not take a single snap under center????
Why?
To stop him from fumbling the ball so much?
Let's check the stats....Ohio State has lost one fumble this season. Doesn't look too much like a problem to me.
Meant to make this a new post...
Can someone confirm this for me: Pryor did not take a single snap under center????
Did you happen to watch the game today? Just wondering...
Really nice game for the Buckeyes for a terrible weather day. I liked the running game and the defense continues to outplay their opponents.
I would like to officially nominate bup bup bup as a candidate for president of the Brian Rolle fan club
