Tyrone Williams, a 6'7" wide receiver from East Cleveland Shaw High School, committed to Ohio State today, giving the Bucks the twelfth member of their 2010 recruiting class.
Williams has tremendous size, but it is his speed that makes him such a deadly option through the air. He suffered a devastating season-ending knee injury last season, which has stunted his recruiting growth, but is fully recovered and caught 5 balls for 112 yards and a touchdown in his first game this past Friday.
Williams is still growing in both height and muscle, making many believe that he could grow into a tight end once he hits the OSU weight program, but for now the staff sees him as the future red zone threat that the Buckeyes have been lacking the past few seasons. Grades have been an issue for Williams, but he has improved in that area and if he keeps going in the same direction, he should be fine come signing day.

I had been waiting for this kid to pull the trigger, hoping he wouldn't go all Cordale Scott on us
How about neither as the third option in the poll guys
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.c...
ouch. hopefully, they will still have a few players left in 2 weeks!
Maybe all the luck that seems to shine down on SC is starting to show signs of fatigue ... Certainly some bad breaks, literally, for them recently - Corp, O'dowd and now this kid
I want to clarify that I don't mean that SC is awesome because of luck, just that they never really seem to have anything happen to them with respect to team leaders that derail seasons ....like we have had (Clarrett fiasco, beanie injuries, troy smith bowl and early year suspension ruining his Texas start). And we are not the only program that has had to deal with this in a given year or three. But with USC there has not been any weird suspensions, outside punishment costing players, injuries, etc ... they just roll along until their one-game flop against an underdog. Of course, their recruiting could really be that much better than everyone else that these things do happen and it doesn't matter.
Anyway, I don't want them to lose too many people so that we are given zero credit for a win, but all runs have to come to an end, maybe SC run of conference titles and big game domination is winding down and it might start with some bad luck
Mark May and Colin Cowherd will never give Ohio State any credit. Even if they beat USC 70-0 with all of USC's starters fine and dandy, they'd find excuses.
I don't think the media as a whole has it in for the Buckeyes. But those guys do.
hey everyone that talked shit about beanie wells can suck it! you know who you are.
oh and in a side note my boy PJ Hill hit for 18 off the bench.
i love Beanie, but lets not get too carried away with ourselves
I'm pretty sure OSU will get no respect as it is with USC starting a frosh QB. Can you imagine if USC wins!?
dont take that the wrong way, I just hope he can stay on the field long enough to really make us proud. Theres no question he is better than former D2 player, Tim Hightower, and should be the starter by the midway point in the season, but thats if he can stay on the field.
I'm excited to have a guy of Williams' size, but after watching some video it's clear this is another case of we'll have to see him against real competition.
I posted a video on my blog and it looks like he's playing against a bunch of ninth graders. He's just so much bigger than everyone else. I've also seen varying stats on this guy as well, from 6'5" 185 to 6'7" 220 and with a 4.65 40 to a 4.5 40. In any event, the guy's big, has great hands, excellent speed and is a welcomed addition to the team.
Ohio State V. U$C preview video..
EPIC!enjoy...

Ty and Jake-two huge tight ends with blazing speed lining up with Pryor under center and Berry and Rod Smith next year at RB. One word comes to mind for opposing defenses. HELP!!!!!!
Tough break(No Pun intended) I remember the sinking feeling last year in the Y-state game with Beanie and I pray nobody goes down against Navy. One overlooked item was Barkley's struggles in practice leading up to Johnson's Injury. To All those non believing cry baby's slurping on Barkley's Jock and how he's gonna shred us at the Shoe. To quote another Johnson,"CHILD PLEASE!!!!!!!"
Wow, that FREEP article is extremely damaging. It looks like Boren will be vindicated. I'm not an idiot, and I know that if you want playing time, there is nothing "voluntary" about working out above and beyond the NCAA limits; but Dick-Rod's life is about to get very, very unpleasant. The Michigan Men have never faced sanctions before. They sold out Bo and Lloyd to go 3-9. A storm is coming.
That UM article from the Free Press could be nothing, or it could be something huge--something that shakes the college football world. I've got a feeling that a majority of schools spend more than 20 hours a week in practices, more than 4 hours a day in practice, have "optional" off-season workouts, etc. Don't even tell me that UM is the only school that struggles with this. I can imagine nationwide dozens of overworked players rightly concerned about their health, well-being, and academics speaking out about these kinds of abuses.
Perhaps, but what's at stake here is Michigan's image as untouchable, as morally superior to other programs. They've never faced sanctions before. Even when they went 3-9, they could fall back on that point. Now, they are in danger of becoming mere mortals along the "bum" programs like OSU, Bama, OU, etc. With a media issue like this, perception is king, and not exactly reality. This may reverberate throughout other programs, but Dick-Rod's image is going to take a serious beating. I've always thought UM would give him 3 years to show his system can work in the Big 10, but now I'm having doubts.
DickRod may be in some deep shizzy
Seth, it could be nothing bit at the very least it means The local press has turned on DickRod. This time for real.
Is it just me or does Troy Smith look a lot better than Jamarcus Russell ? The SEC Isn't working out to good in Oakland.
scUM is screwed. You cant have ten players giving matching stories and get away with it. This may have worked at tiny little Morgantown, but not at a big time program like scUM. I guarantee they are going into full damage control mode right now as we speak at scUM,
I just wonder if this is hurting his team rather than helping it. I realize coaches and s/c guys are always trying to push players to work harder, but even the most well conditioned professional athletes have their physical limitations.
This is the beginning of the end for Dick Rod at scUM, unless he pulls at least 8 wins out of his ass this year, he'll be coaching at Marshall next season.
at 6'7" he's going to make everyone look small. your avg. college cb is 5'9" he has a huge advantage in the redzone. He runs track and has been clocked at 22 secs in the 200. For a guy his size that is moving.
The entire UM controversy could be nothing as far as sanctions go, but it is certainly hilarious that the arrogance shown by the fans might be forced to ramp-down a bit for a least a few months. The leaders and the best are mere mortals when it comes to caring about class for their athletes. But, only if this is proven correct and there is a long way to go with this. Although, as someone else mentioned, this seems like a lot of people singing the same song.
wut?

didn't this guy just write some sanctimonious non-sense about OSU with regards to the moeller incident? and then he posts that on his blog...bc the newspaper had the temerity to question the program. i know we try to keep the language level at PG round hur but....what a frickin' douche bag.
Weird. Troy was a better college QB too.
Saw that. I loved Baptist's piece in the Dispatch about Hill's offseason program. Sounds like he took offense to teams laying off him so much due to his lack of a jumper. Hopefully, he now has one to complement his defense. I am cautiously optimistic since his 18 point outburst came against University of Windsor in a scrimmage.
I hope you are not referencing me, because I don't write sanctimonious comments, normally anyway. And I certainly didn't do so in regards to moeller at all ... I am just stating that it is funny that those up north have to deal with this, given their love affair with the academic reputation of UM and willingness to constantly take shots at other schools re: academics. Just sayin'
He has lost that team. His own players don't like him.
He's talking about Brian Cook at MGoBlog.
Cool, didn't think so, but where it was placed threw me off a bit, my mistake.
Back to the issue though, this has gotten a lot of play nationally, somewhat surprisingly so. If nothing else, this latest "scandal" is another distraction and another issue that RR has to deal with now ... if these incidents just keep coming, I think there will be a certain amount of fatigue that will set in with some of the UM faithful with RR ... just when he thinks controversy is behind him and can get back out on the field, he has to now deal with this issue.
I played baseball at UF, and I was on the field 7 days a week. I didn't get a day off, which is against the rules being that a player must have one full day off, and trust me it was mandatory no matter what the coaches tell you. It happens everywhere. It'll just be interesting to see what type of infractions these are.
You know who does look good? Peyton Manning....The SEC is working just fine in Indianapolis.
I am on record from the beginning...... Dick Rod is done at the end of
this season and Les Miles is the new UM coach. Dick Rod may not
get to finish out the season and if these allegations are true, his coaching
career is one at the 1-A level.
as much as it pains me to say this Peyton does not look as good as Big 10 Tom Brady
His coaching career is already at the 1-A level.
JiC, being a Giants fan I am not arguing however, since you obviously root for Russell and McFadden and may not understand me, I was talking about OAKLAND which is spelled different and is a few thousand miles southwest. Russell doesn't shock me, but I think McFadden ( who I think is a beast) needs to get the hell out of there. Do you agree? Or are we turning Oakland's situation into a B10/ SEC pissing contest?
And is a gator fan actually championing Peyton Manning? This has gone way too far.
Just backing up the conference
I would say Tom is better, but we'll have to see how he bounces back this year. I'm betting he does.
I agree, and no we aren't turning this into a pissing contest. It's Sunday, my day to relax, so I'll wait to Monday to take out my aggression once someone pisses me off at work.
I think he meant his coaching career was DONE at the 1-A level, Reality. Reading it the way you want to doesn't even make sense.
"so I’ll wait to Monday to take out my aggression once someone pisses me off at work"
Like when they want you to make fresh fries, or demand an extra pickle on their Big Mac?
Troy Smith speaks a lot better than JaMarcus Russell. Does anyone remember the side line interview in NOLA with both of them? Troy was looking (up) at Russell with this look like "WTF is this guy saying" I think it was English, but I could be wrong.
No, it does, if he's trying to say "his coaching career is one at 1-AA level". I mean, I would put such grammatical inadequacy below PBB. Would you?
Ha. I wouldn't put that past PBB. Irony, thy name is Reality.
LOL I was just puzzling over that...
hahahahahaha wow! Good one you prick. Haven't heard that one since 3rd grade. Good thing I come with my own elementary trash talking: your mom makes Big Mac's and french fries.
I don't know how much trouble they'll see from the NCAA, but to me this marks a whole lot of trouble with in the team. It's very much a team in turmoil, and now players who have transferred can't just be disregarded as trouble players or guys who didn't want to work hard enough. I think a team collapsing from within is much harder to fix than one that is destroyed by the NCAA.
That's more telling to me than NCAA implications. I mean, the NCAA probably won't do much to them, but he lost the team, and that's the death sentence for him. This kind of stuff can lead to another 3 win year.
I have heard nothing but terrible things about Barkley on all the sports radio shows locally here in LA. I dunno where Kyper gets his shit....
All these injuries mean is: we need to stay healthy and we need to beat them.
to be fair, there is a buckeye fan championing tom brady.
maybe everyone needs to take a cold shower and wash the 'ick' off.
Colin Cowherd today was proclaiming if Ohio State doesn't beat USC this year then OSU never will. Then he basically went on to say that no one from the Big Ten ever will if they don't do it this year. A lot of people are predicting a Buckeye victory, and I don't see why OSU can't beat them up. I can't wait for that one.
Thought I'd throw that in there since so many of you love Colin Cowherd because of his love for everything OSU. He's a prick..........
Actually he hates us. I like his show, but he is a HUGE bandwagon jumper.
