The Hurdle

Apologies for the abundance of YouTube clips as of late, but we want to make sure we showcase some of these highlights. Below, we have Beanie doing his thing:

How does it stack up to Moreno’s hurdle? Both look similar, but slight edge to Beanie because the Big Ten > MAC (though I’ll hear you out if you want to make the argument that Minnesota is a middle-of-the-pack MAC team).

I think Moreno’s a bit more impressive in the fact he had to hurdle the guy that’s basically standing and crouching down for the tackle.

Beanie had the advantage of a guy diving forward towards him, thus he didn’t have to get as airborne as Moreno. But on the other hand, Beanie had very little time to execute or even think about what he was doing.

    I call this a split.

  2. Drew says:

Definitely Beanie’s because he technically got more yards from the point of the leap (8 vs. 10) and Beanie outweighs Moreno by a fourth grader.

  3. BuckeyeSki says:

LMAO @ outweighing him by a fourth grader.

Hmm. I recall Morono having a pretty awesome leap over a player into the endzone. As marque Heisman type plays go, that’s what I’d compare to.

  5. Wells and Wells Law Firm says:

At least Beanie did his with a bit more class. Moreno had to get up, run over to the sidelines and jump around like it was the greatest football play ever. I think he took himself out of the game after that run.

Wells, gets up, hands the ball to the ref and gets ready for the next play.

I think Moreno getting caught in the Tide last week cemented his spot as a Heisman also-ran this year.

  7. Dan Isaacs (most of these were typed as lowercase letters.) says:

Amen on both counts. Of course, Morono plays in the SEC, so class isn’t something I’d expect.

And yeah, 48 yards against anyone is enough to show you aren’t the best player in CFB.

Though I must say, I like Pryor’s odds better than Beanie’s. If he is able to keep putting up 3-4 TD games and winning, hard for me at least not to consider him.

  8. Pat says:

I think Moreno scores higher for style points , but Beanie definitely gets the edge in mercy points (choosing the hurdle over the stiff arm, which had roughly a 1 in 4 chance of breaking the defender’s spine clean in half).
