AP Photo/Jeff RobersonIt's a new season in the NFL and that means the Buckeye NFLer of the Week award is back. Each week we'll honor a former Buckeye as the top performer in the NFL from the school.
Week one's winner is Drew Carter of the Carolina Panthers. Carter had 3 catches for 19 yards but scored twice as the Panthers upset the St. Louis Rams at home 27-13. It was the first time in Carter's 4 year career that he scored multiple touchdowns in a game.
Honorable mention goes out to Mike Vrabel of the New England Patriots. Vrabel had 7 tackles (6 solo), 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble as the Patriots dismantled the N.Y. Jets at home, 38-14. We were ready to hand over this week's award to Vrabel until the Pats went all KGB on us.

Drew seems to always do pretty well when he plays. I know he has some height & some wheels. It always baffles me that Carolina still lists K. Colbert as the other starter opposite S. Smith. Colbert hardly ever cracks the box score. Maybe Carter & Smith play the same position...is that why he isn't a starter?
A couple of more outings like Sunday and Carter should have Colbert's spot. Unless Carruth comes back..
Santonio Holmes had a nice catch against the Browns...
Holmes did have a nice catch. Drew over him by virtue of TD count. It was close between those two and Vrabel.
The Pats story is starting to take legs...

Notre Dame scored an offensive TD at practice today. Coach Weis celebrated the historic event by soaking his whistle in beef gravy while bonging two jars of Helman's REAL Mayonnaise.
Bill B is a pimp!
Sure Holmes had a nice TD catch, but you can't really count that against the Browns. Thats like hitting the fat kid in dodgeball.
Just thought we should give an honorable mention to Matt Wilhelm getting his 1st start for the Chargers and having 5 tackles and a fumble recovery.
