BlogPoll Ballot: Week 3

The top five in our ballot went unchanged after a wild weekend of football. You could even pretty much make the argument that these five have separated themselves from the rest of the pack, but there's still a lot of ball to be played.

Texas took a tumble due to their narrow escape from Central Florida while Wisconsin gets dinged for their Citadel performance. They get a stunned Iowa team this week, so they should continue to pile up victories, but this team remains hard to read.

Newcomers include Boston College (#15), Clemson (#18), Kentucky (#24) and Cincinnati (#25).

As always, you can check the ballots of every voter and the final version is due Wednesday morning, so get your thoughts in by Tuesday night if you think we got it wrong.

1 LSU Another shutout for Pelini's defense. The OBC visits this weekend. --
2 USC Impressive victory in a tough environment. Miles v. Carroll is lining up nicely. --
3 Oklahoma Sam Bradford has 5 more incompletions than touchdowns. Let that sink in for a second. --
4 Florida Meyer gave Vol fans 59 reasons why he's Fulmer's new master. --
5 West Virginia Like the Mountaineers need any more weapons, but Devine is damn good. --
6 Cal Still rolling. Beat La Tech 42-12. UP1
7 Ohio State Homers you say? This defense looks scary. UP1
8 Texas Squeeked out a 35-32 victory @ UCF. DOWN2
9 Penn State Another big win, but Buffalo threw for over 300 on the Lions. UP3
10 Wisconsin Small scare from Citadel, the Badgers welcome Iowa to town this week. DOWN1
11 Rutgers Explosive offense scored 6 touchdowns in 11 minutes on the way to a 59-0 spanking of Norfolk State. UP2
12 South Carolina The OBC devoured his final cream puff before heading to Baton Rouge this weekend. UP3
13 Oregon Put it on Fresno State to the tune of 52-21. Heading to Harbaughland this weekend. UP5
14 Alabama Bear Saban last seen baptizing children in Lake Tuscaloosa following his first big win at Alabama. UP5
15 Boston College Impressive victory over a thought-to-be-pretty-good Tech team in Atlanta. NR
16 Virginia Tech Rebounded from LSU debacle by beating Ohio University 28-7. Will be able to continue licking wounds against William & Mary this week. UP4
17 Missouri Sometimes bye weeks pay at the polls. UP5
18 Clemson Tigers take their 3-0 start to NC State. NR
19 South Florida Although they were off on a bye, their bandwagon grows around the 11W office. UP5
20 Louisville A week after giving up 42 to Middle Tennessee State, Kentucky gets 40. Unfortunately, their offense only put up 34. DOWN10
21 Arkansas Too little, too late in 3 point loss at Alabama. DOWN5
22 Hawaii Beat the same UNLV team that gave Wisky fits 49-14 in Vegas. UP3
23 Nebraska We're erring on the side of USC really being that good instead of Nebraska really being that bad. DOWN9
24 Kentucky HUGE win over Louisville. Kentucky takes its 3-0 record to Arkansas this weekend. NR
25 Cincinnati What's going on in the 'Nati? NR

DROPPED OUT: UCLA (#11), Washington (#17), Georgia Tech (#21), Tennessee (#23)

Man, you come in with a fury - the iron fist comes down on UCLA dropping them at least 15 spots. I like that. Why isn't Texas down out of the top 10 though. They've struggled against Arkansas St. and Central Florida. An this week they were really bailed out.

I hate to admit Alabama is that good, it hurts my cojones.

Thanks for the love.

No Arizona State love? =/

The Sun Devils have four very winnable games in the next month. They could easily be sitting at 7-0 and if they do that, other things will fall into place. It would pain me greatly to cast a vote for a Dennis Erickson team, but if they're worthy..

Suck - I think we're going to have to start docking Texas Mac points. Vince was truly a once-in-a-generation type guy that made Brown look great for a season, but now he's back to being the John Cooper of the Big 12.

Anyone else notice that the only ranked team Oklahoma plays is Texas? And Texas sucks. Ranking them at #3 seems ridiculous in my opinion.

dont forget that the sooners get mizzou or nebraska in the big12 championship game. Still can't punish the sooners for who they don't play

Dave on 18 September 2007 - 4:33am #

Sure you can punish them for not scheduling anything too difficult. The BCS does.

In all fairness, when Oklahoma scheduled Miami originally, I'm sure they were at the top of their game.

Who in th hell is giving Wisconsin a #1 vote?

Jason on 18 September 2007 - 12:39pm #

Looks like the Enlightened Spartan gave the Badgers a #1 vote last week.

That's crazy.
