Caffeinate and dominate, hit your protein goals and have a good Wednesday.
“WE’RE REALLY EXCITED.” Matt Patricia agreed to a new contract to remain Ohio State’s defensive coordinator. Ryan Day discussed the deal in a Monday interview with 10TV’s Dom Tiberi.
“I want to give Ross (Bjork), the board and president (Ted) Carter a lot of credit. We wanted to make sure we solidified Matt moving forward,” Day said. “He did a great job this year. He certainly, from the jump, built great trust within the building with coaches, with players, and then you saw the product on the field. Really excited that we solidified his future at Ohio State.”

When Tiberi asked for the contract’s length and annual salary, Day declined, then smiled and laughed.
“No, I’ll let kind of Ross and everybody there handle how we’re gonna move forward with all that,” Day said. “But yeah, just again, got to give credit to everybody involved. We wanted to make sure that his future was cemented here moving forward. That was great. Matt loves being a Buckeye (and so does) his family. He’s really assimilated well. So we’re really excited. The guys will be excited.”
The Buckeyes will have two playcallers with NFL head-coaching experience: Patricia and new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. Tiberi and Day agreed that makes Ohio State a special place.
“Experience we know is very, very important,” Day said. “Give Ross, the board, president Carter a lot of credit to be able to go get some of the best guys in the country. But also give our coaching staff and our players credit to attract the best talent in the country.”
I think — I think! — Day wanted to give Bjork, the board and Carter credit. He also praised Patricia for sticking around even though he had opportunities to leave.
“He’s somebody who has a tremendous resume, but has a young family who really enjoys being Buckeyes,” Day said. “There’s still gonna be people that come after him moving forward, but that’s what happens when you do well and have success at Ohio State.”
Oh, yes, the people will be coming after Ohio State wins the national title in 2026. They’ll all want him (again)!
“WE LOVE THE BUCKEYES.” Matt Patricia confirmed his contract extension in an Instagram post on Tuesday. He thanked Ryan Day, Ross Bjork and more for the opportunity to coach at Ohio State, and like Day told Tiberi about Patricia, shared his great love for Columbus and the Buckeyes.
“We love Columbus, we love the Buckeyes. We’re going to work tirelessly to continue to build the defense and go out and defend the Shoe,” Patricia said. “We’re excited to get back at it and certainly looking forward to next year, but just want to express my gratitude and appreciation for Buckeye Nation and how much you mean to us. We’re excited to be here.”
And we’re excited to have you, Coach.
WELL DONE, BUCKEYES. Dom Tiberi’s interview with Ryan Day came during the penultimate day of the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer. Tiberi reported that the 2026 voyage raised $4.6 million for The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

READY FOR MASH MADNESS? March Madness is coming to the barrel room.
Eleven Warriors is teaming up with High Bank Distillery for the Mash Madness: Barrel Room Bash, a two-day March hoops takeover inside High Bank Co. Grandview (1051 Goodale Blvd). For $35 per day or $60 for both days, you’ll get wall-to-wall basketball, an all-you-can-eat gameday feast and access to one of the best atmospheres in Columbus to sweat out every buzzer-beater. We’re turning the barrel room into the ultimate hangout — massive screens, nonstop action from the first tip to the final buzzer and the kind of electric energy that only the Big Dance can bring.
Come hungry and stay all day. High Bank is serving up a full spread of nachos, wings, hot dogs, salads and more — the comfort food you need to power through overtime thrillers and bracket chaos (drinks sold separately). Sip your way through the madness with craft cocktails, whiskey pours, buckets of beer and more available at the bar, and don’t miss the limited-release Mash Madness Cigar Cask Blend while you’re there.
We’ll also have raffle items and prizes throughout the event, benefiting the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, so you can enjoy the games while supporting a great cause in the community. Bring your crew. Rep your team (hopefully Ohio State!), cheer loud and enjoy Mash Madness.
