- 2023: Ohio State 35, Rutgers 19
- 2022: Ohio State 49, Rutgers 10
- 2021: Ohio State 52, Rutgers 13

- 2016: Ohio State 58, Rutgers 0
- 2015: Ohio State 49, Rutgers 7
- 2014: Ohio State 56, Rutgers 17
On Saturday, the Buckeyes are 32.5-point favorites — an appropriate number for the No. 1 team in the nation against a 5-5 opponent, especially one that ranks No. 122 nationally in total defense (425.5 yards allowed per game).
Still, Ohio State will be tested. Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith will miss the contest with injuries, as will five-star freshman Quincy Porter, leaving Julian Sayin without three of his top six targets. The defense, meanwhile, will face a Rutgers offense led by a quarterback (Athan Kaliakmanis) who has thrown for more yards than Sayin, a 1,000-yard rusher (Antwan Raymond) and a 900-yard receiver (KJ Duff).

A holding penalty and negative run drove Ohio State back to 3rd-and-goal at the Rutgers 11-yard line, but a nice play design left tight end Max Klare wide open on a wheel route for an easy touchdown pitch-and-catch. It put the Buckeyes up 21-3.

Defense Smothers Rutgers on 4th-and-1
Running up the middle for a yard against this year's Silver Bullets will never be a gimme. Rutgers tried on 3rd-and-1, Kayden McDonald smacked the running back for no gain. The Scarlet Knights tried again on 4th-and-1, the Buckeyes' defensive line overwhelmed their opponents' front to force the running back outside, where Jaylen McClain stuck him for a stop.
