Kenyatta Jackson Jr. is back to playing status already.

After suffering an injury that knocked him out of Ohio State's Week 1 win over Texas in the third quarter, Jackson isn't listed on the Buckeyes' status report as they prepare to play FCS foe Grambling State, meaning that he's available against the Tigers.

OSU STATUS REPORT FOR GRAMBLING STATE
Out
CB Brenten "Inky" Jones
TE Max LeBlanc
DT Jason Moore
QB Mason Maggs
RB Anthony "Turbo" Rogers
DT Maxwell Roy
S Deshawn Stewart
DT Ahmed Tounkara
WR Preston Wolfe

Each of Ohio State's starters is also available heading into the Grambling State game. This week's status report remains the same as it did before the Texas tilt, with the most notable injury being to backup defensive tackle Jason Moore.

Jackson sustained his injury against the Longhorns during the Buckeyes' goal-line stand in the third quarter, lying on the turf for several minutes while being evaluated by team trainers. After walking off the field, he was evaluated in Ohio State's medical tent before having his helmet taken away and sitting out the rest of the game. The injury was never specified.

Ryan Day has held out available players working their way back from injury before, especially against weaker opponents. In 2024, star defensive tackle Tyleik Williams didn't play vs. Purdue despite being available for the first time following an ankle injury. Thus, there's still a chance Jackson doesn't see the field or is limited against the Tigers, but having him back in the fold for the rest of the season is still good news for the Buckeyes.

Moore was spotted in a walking boot after an Ohio State practice three weeks ago, though the boot was off as he exited the field during the Buckeyes' player media availability before the Texas game. Will Smith Jr. and Tywone Malone Jr. will be the first defensive tackles to play after starters Kayden McDonald and Eddrick Houston, with freshman Jarquez Carter likely to see his first action as well.

Saturday's cupcake also could have been a spot for freshman running back Anthony "Turbo" Rogers to get some action, but his ongoing absence means more carries for redshirt freshman Sam Dixon and fellow true freshman Bo Jackson against Grambling State.

Ohio State and Grambling State kick off at 3:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
