Football season remains over three months away, but Ohio State fans already have yet another Big Noon Kickoff to look forward to when the Buckeyes face the Texas Longhorns in a season-opening rematch of the CFP semifinal.
At least, that’s what the initial report from FOX Sports stated. Shortly after publishing that news last week and the predictable negative response from OSU fans, FOX removed the language confirming the Big Noon Kickoff time from the article. The network will still host the opener as well as the next installment of The Game, but it’s now unclear once again at what time the first matchup on the Ohio State schedule will take place.
Does that mean Buckeye fans have had their wish granted of getting a marquee showdown in a time slot other than midday? Probably not, but Johnny and I will dream about it on The Eleven Dubcast this week anyway.
Additionally, the Dubcast discussion also covers:
- Despite all the vitriol around Big Noon Kickoffs, it appears the majority of OSU fans actually still prefer to watch their school’s football team on FOX over any other network. Does the other half hate the experience as much as the other adores it? How do twice as many OSU fans prefer ABC and ESPN over CBS?
- Another week, another Ohio lawmaker proposes a meme bill to garner favor with Buckeye football fans. How absolutely sure are we that Tex Fischer isn’t AI generated?
- Ask Us Anything — writers to dubcast@elevenwarriors.com this week inquired about many topics, such as if having a rival with an elite team benefits Ohio State.
- ESPN released its annual top 10 list of head coaches last Friday, with Ryan Day up eight spots from a year ago and only Kirby Smart in front of him. Who voted for Kirk Ferentz?
