A top Ohio State defensive tackle transfer target is off the board.
Former Syracuse defensive tackle Maraad Watson, a Freshman All-American last season, signed with Texas on Tuesday following his visit with the Longhorns, according to multiple outlets.
Before Watson visited Texas, Ohio State was rumored to be Texas' biggest competition for the stout defender.
The Longhorns have now taken a handful of transfer portal defensive linemen between the winter and spring transfer portal cycles, including former Ohio State defensive tackle Hero Kanu. Watson appeared in 13 games for Syracuse last season, recording 31 tackles, 10 quarterback pressures, 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack and a pass breakup.
Ohio State is still pursuing other transfer portal options at defensive line, including former North Carolina defensive end Beau Atkinson, who visited Columbus on Monday, and former Georgia Southern defensive tackle Troy Pikes, who's scheduled to take a visit to campus on Friday.
