Update: Nigel Glover announced his commitment to Ohio State on Tuesday evening.

Following three official visits to Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio State last week, transfer linebacker Nigel Glover is nearing a decision.

“It will be soon,” he told Eleven Warriors on Tuesday. “I’m trying to get to camp as soon as possible. I had to do my due diligence by quickly making a list of three schools I was able to visit in the non dead period. I took the visits, analyzed each school and made a decision.”

The Clayton, Ohio, native's visit to Columbus was on Thursday and ran through Friday, a trip that the 2023 signee said was productive.

“The visit was great,” Glover said. “I grew up an Ohio State fan, and so did my family. I like coach Jim Knowles a lot and coach James Laurinaitis. They’re great people, and they’re the best at what they do. I believe they’d be very successful at developing me at the next level. Playing in The Shoe would be great. I went to many games as a kid, and being on the field instead of the stands would feel crazy.

“(The coaching staff) sold me on what they do to develop players, and they sold me on how they do it,” Glover said. “That really stood out to me. The genuine care they have for their players stood out as well. Also, C.J. Hicks, he was showing me some stuff and you know I like how they teach their players. They’re just really intriguing.”

If Glover commits to Ohio State, he’ll be eligible to play this season and will have four years of eligibility remaining. The former four-star recruit signed with Northwestern in December and was the highest-ranked player in the Wildcats’ 2023 signing class. He entered the transfer portal on July 17 following the Northwestern hazing scandal.

While Glover played primarily safety in high school at Clayton, he said Knowles sees him as a Will linebacker in Ohio State’s system.

“I think having played safety will make me more comfortable in open field tackles,” Glover said. “I have a lot of confidence in my ability to do that, just because I did it so many times in high school. I covered a lot in high school, so I'm confident in my coverage abilities. I think moving down closer to the ball will be good for me.”

With fall camp starting this week for most college teams, Glover hopes to have this recruiting process wrapped up sooner rather than later. Seeing as Glover will be coming into his new surroundings without the benefit of any summer workouts with his new teammates or coaches, he plans to be a quick study.

“I’d be in the film room a lot,” Glover said. “Coming into camp the week of, I just have to be a film junkie and get everything down. Work is work, so as long as I’m working, I’m good.”

Ohio State offers 5-star 2025 OL Solomon Thomas

Ohio State extended an offer to one of the top offensive tackles in the 2025 cycle Tuesday. Five-star Florida prospect Solomon Thomas became the third five-star offensive tackle the Buckeyes have offered in the 2025 class, joining David Sanders and Micah DeBose

Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Thomas is considered the 24th-best prospect nationally and the fifth-rated offensive tackle. The 6-foot-3, 278-pound prospect holds more than 30 Division I offers, including Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.

Ohio State begins direct contact with 2025 recruits

The recruiting calendar always seems to be in flux year after year with different NCAA rule changes. This year is no different, with Tuesday kicking off the date college coaches are allowed to directly contact juniors in high school, which was moved up exactly a month from last year’s date of Sept. 1.

Various Ohio State targets in the 2025 class took to social media to reveal Ohio State had contacted them Tuesday, including offensive lineman Kaden Strayhorn, linebacker Tarvos Alford, linebacker Anthony Sacca, cornerback Blake Woodby, running back Tory Blaylock, linebacker Justin Hill and linebacker Eli Lee.
