Ohio State couldn't have made a larger boom to kick off its 2024 recruiting class.

Five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, considered by some recruiting outlets to be the top-rated recruit in the 2024 cycle, announced his commitment to Ohio State on Monday, his birthday.

Raiola is Ohio State’s first commitment in the 2024 cycle, and there was no shortage of social media reaction from a combination of fellow recruits, OSU staffers and past and present OSU players.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound signal caller moved from Texas to Arizona this offseason and will play for Chandler High School (Chandler, Arizona), this fall. That makes him the second Chandler player to recently commit to the Buckeyes, with Kyion Grayes joining OSU's 2022 class.

Raiola said during his commitment at a ceremony at his church he plans to take on a large peer recruiting role for Ohio State in the 2024 cycle, but perhaps he's having an impact on the decision of 2023 recruits as well. Say, two potential five-star wide receivers that would be teammates with Raiola for at least two seasons. Ring any bells to anyone?

One of the recruits Raiola hopes to help recruit to OSU that he specifically mentioned by name is 2024 five-star California safety Peyton Woodyard. Woodyard certainly took notice Monday.

While C.J. Stroud and Raiola will never be on the same Ohio State team together, the two spoke at length when Raiola took his first of two spring visits to Ohio State April 1-3. Stroud congratulated Raiola on joining OSU.

Stroud wasn't the only Buckeye quarterback to welcome Raiola to the OSU brotherhood, as Devin Brown and Kyle McCord chimed in as well.

Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye, and former OSU defensive tackle Haskell Garrett was also paying attention Monday evening.

Ohio State quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis doesn't necessarily tweet often. But when his recruiting efforts helped land another stud quarterback, sending out a celebratory tweet certainly seems appropriate.

You didn't think Captain Buckeye wouldn't chime in on a commit this big, did you?

Kirk Herbstreit has been friends with Raiola's dad for years, and the former Buckeye quarterback was thrilled to see Raiola choose his alma matter.

Other recruits who took notice of Raiola's commitment to OSU included 2023 tight end target Walker Lyons, 2024 five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and 2024 five-star running back Stacy Gage.
