The Hurry Up is your nightcap of Ohio State recruiting news, catching you up on the day’s events with an ear on the ground for what’s next.

THE RECRUITING WEEK THAT WAS

TOP 20 FOR TOP LINEBACKER IN 2017

I'm not a huge fan of outrageously large "top school" lists but this weekend the Buckeyes made the Top 20 for linebacker Anthony Hines, III

One of the country's highest-ranked 2017 prospects, Hines hails from Plano East High School in Texas. He's 6-foot-2, 227-pounds and claims...wait for it...73 scholarship offers.

The Texas standout has not yet visited Ohio State, and it's uncertain if he ever will, but the prestige of the Buckeye name means they make the cut at this point.

ST. EDWARD AND OLENTANGY SCRIMMAGE

Yesterday afternoon I made a stop at Olentangy High School and checked out the defending Division One state champs, Lakewood St. Edward, who had made their way southwest to take on the Braves. The primary reason I was there was to check out the play of Tony Butler, the 2016 defensive back for the Eagles. Still, as is normally the case, it's hard to not notice when other players stand out.

Butler was what I expected he'd: big, fast and talented. The question is not whether or not Butler is good enough to play at Ohio State, but where he fits into a class that is already tight on numbers.

For Ed's, I continue to be impressed with the talented Cole Gest, a 2016 running back who is committed to Indiana.

Gest had two long touchdown runs, including an 80-yarder, against a stingy Olentangy front seven.

I don't know if Gest will get "bigger" offers but I can say confidently if he were bigger, it wouldn't be a question. He's 5-foot-8 and a very solid 180-pounds, he runs hard, he runs fast and he's got a non-stop motor. The Hoosiers are getting a solid football player.

With Olentangy, a state final four team a year ago, the defensive line stood out to me. The group is anchored by Chris Crumb, a three-star defensive lineman headed to Ball State. Crumb helped keep the middle of the field under control for the Braves with an aggressive first step and disruptive hands.

I was also impressed by Deeb Haber, who led the Braves offense at quarterback. Haber was decisive, accurate with the ball and moved well in the pocket.

Bottom line? These are two schools who could meet again come November.

DIVISION ONE PRESEASON ALL-STATE TEAMS NAMED

The guys at JJ Huddle released their Division One preseason all-state teams this weekend and it's a list full of very talented youngsters.

There's still a lot of talent in Ohio. If you're interested in the second team and honorable mention selections you can find them here.

COOPER HIGHLIGHTS

Camp season is over and football season is here. Most of us, understandably, are excited about this development. There's one subsection of society however that is likely less-enthused, namely the quarterbacks of central Ohio who are going to have to see Jonathon Cooper on the football field again. Yesterday, Marc Givler of BuckeyeGrove.com was on hand for Gahanna Lincoln's three-way scrimmage with Kilbourne (Worthington) and Beechcroft: Cooper was his usual terrifying self.

Welcome back, football. We've missed you so.
