Before and after J.T. Barrett silenced Penn State, other Ohio State sports were in action. Here is how they fared.

WSOC Wins B1G, Advances to Conference Semifinals

After the Ohio State women's soccer team clinched the Big Ten regular season title outright, their path to the NCAA Tournament was next raised with the Big Ten Tournament first. That started with a thrilling 2-1 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in double overtime Sunday afternoon.

In regulation, the Buckeyes and Hawkeyes played to a draw thanks to goals from Eleanor Gabriel and Iowa's Morgan Kemerling.

Stalemating the rest of the way, the teams had played through the first overtime without getting anything going. Then, in the 103rd minute, Sarah Roberts took a headed ball off a corner kick, gathered her feet and delivered an absolute bomb from 30 yards to end the game.

"When you're playing against a team that's fighting for its life, it's hard," Ohio State coach Lori Walker-Hock said. "I'm happy with where we are so we'll continue to advance and fight another day."

"That was an unbelievable goal from Sarah Roberts to end it."

Ohio State next takes on fifth-seeded Penn State in the conference semifinals Friday in Westfield, IN.

Men's Tennis Has Two in B1G Singles Semis

Well, they're only going to have one athlete in the Big Ten title match, but they have two in the semi's — the only problem being that Alex Kobelt and Matt Mendez will have to face each other for a spot in the finals.

After both got a bye out of the first round, Kobelt and Mendez had different routes to getting into the semi-finals.

Kobelt needed three sets in his first match — a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Jack Winkler of Michigan State before Kobelt then beat Will Davies of Iowa and David Crocker of Michigan in straight sets to get into the round-of-4.

Mendez defeated Nick Beaty of Michigan in straight sets, had a little trouble with Kareem Allaf of Iowa, but won in three sets, and then defeated Indiana's Bennett Crane 6-3, 6-1 for his date with Kobelt for a spot in the finals.

Women's Tennis Competes in UT Fall Invite

The women's tennis team was also in action last week, as Friday they competed in the UT Fall Invite in Knoxville, Tenn.

At the invitational, they competed in a bevy of matches and contests against Wake Forest, Arizona State and the host team Tennessee.

Senior Olivia Sneed led the charge for Ohio State, winning all three of her contests.

Of note, No. 33 Anna Sanford went 2-1 in singles competition, losing in an upset to No. 46 Emma Davis of Wake Forest (7-6, 6-1) before coming back strong to top Ariadna Riley of Tennessee (6-2,6-4) and Lauryn John-Bapiste of Arizona State 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (5).

Next, Ohio State will send athletes to both the Oracle ITA Fall Championships Nov. 1-5 and to the ASU Fall Thunderbird, Nov. 3-5.

Men's Soccer Losing Streak up to 9

Since their winning streak ended with a 5-1 loss at Michigan State on Oct.1, it's been a polar opposite of season's for the men's soccer team. That run continued last week, as they lost matchups at Kentucky (1-0) and on Senior Day Sunday against Wisconsin, 2-0.

The matchup at Kentucky was the closest they've come to getting back on the winning edge. The Buckeyes and the Wildcats were knotted up in a scoreless tie Wednesday until the 85th minute of the ballgame, when Kentucky got the game-winning goal from Noah Hutchins. Ohio State had been down a man as well after a red card.

Red Card Woes Continue

Ohio State men's soccer was at a disadvantage again Sunday on senior day and early this time, as freshman Will Hirschman was sent off with a red card in the 18th minute.

Wisconsin would capitalize on the advantage later in the half, when the Badgers' Mike Catalano put a shot from 10 yards out past Xavier Kennedy.

Despite being only down one going into the second half, any momentum for the Buckeyes was thwarted early and the tone was set for the second half when Wisconsin's Chris Mueller took an unselfish feed from Tom Barlow and scored from eight yards out. It was his eight goal of the year and all the firepower Wisconsin would need.

With regular season play commencing, Ohio State is seeded sixth as they head into the Big Ten Tournament, where they'll travel Nov. 5 to third-seeded Michigan State — the team who started the Buckeyes' losing streak — to try and keep their season alive.

Men's and Women's sweeting kick off season

Both the men's and women's swimming teams were victorious to open the 2017-18 season, with the men defeating Kenyon College 189-69 while the women did the same 185-73.

Nick Hogsed won the 1000m freestyle in 9:20.86 and the 500m freestyle in 4:29.51. Ching Hwang Lim edged teammate Paul DeLakis in the 200m freestyle, winning in 1:40.03, just .02 seconds ahead of his cohort.

In diving, Christo Law ran ship for the Buckeyes, winning the one and three-meter dives with scores of 404.63 and 419.55, respectively.

Women Get the Job Done against Kenyon

On the women's side, it was senior Meg Bailey who led the charge for the Buckeyes. She won three events on the day — the 200m butterfly (1:59.95), 200 backstroke (2:01.40) and the 200 individual medley (2:02.29).

Overall, the Ohio State women won all 12 of the individual races, and had both the one-meter and three-meter dive winners. Genevieve Angerame had a score of 295.3 for the one-meter gold while Camryn McPherson put up 347.33 to win the three-meter.

OSUXC Competes at Big Ten Championships

The Ohio State cross country team's opened up their postseason slate, returning to Indiana University for the second time this year for the Big Ten Championships. The women finished in sixth place while the men rounded up the competition, finishing in eleventh.

Christine Frederick earned second team All-Big Ten as she finished in 11th with a time of 20:39.2 to pace the Buckeye women. Emily Stoodley was not far behind, finishing in 21:00.1 to come in 24th.

Other scorers for the Buckeyes all finished within the top 50. Sarah Kanney and Abby Nichols finished in 35th and 36th respectively, finishing in times of 21:23.1 and 21:23.9 right behind one another.

Finally, Lainey Studebaker roundup the scorers with a 21:30.6 time, good enough for 43rd.

Men Finish 11th

Pacing Ohio State in the men's race was Jake Mandel (63rd, 25:25), Aaron Wood (65th, 25:26.9), and just outside the top 70 finishers was Mitch Leitch with a time of 25:34.6 for 71st.

Rounding up the scoring for Ohio State was Kevin Blank (25:50.8) in 77th and Alex Lomong, who finished in 79th with a time of 25:54.9.
