The subject title is all-encompassing for me. I know the Head Coach and his assistants are some of the best around, and this group has made tremendous strides in the past two years. But for me, this is the only group that causes me worry for the 2015-16 campaign. Devin Smith and Evan Spencer graduating creates two big holes to fill. I know Michael Thomas is practically NFL ready, and he virtually has a lock on one of the positions. But he is not what I would consider a "burner", although when he broke the 77-yarder against Sparty, no one caught him from behind. I just worry about things like; will Corey Smith catch everything that is thrown his way ? Will he use his hands more ? No doubt THIS young man has speed, but...Noah Brown has dropped 20 pounds, appears to be a great blocker on the outside, what type of speed does he possess ? Can he pull a Devin and get behind safeties and pull in a 12-Gauge bomb and outrun the defenders to the end zone ? Terry McLaurin has been praised for his speed coming out of HS, but for me, the jury is still out. Can he catch a 12-yard out pattern when the ball is thrown low to the turf ? Is he unafraid to go across the middle ? Does Jalin have the speed to be a tremendous threat as the other WR ? We all KNOW what a terrific receiver he has shown so far, making some great catches throughout the year. Jeff Greene ? He didn't come here to play mop- up duty at the end of blowouts. It seems like such a waste for a 6'5" receiver not to be playing when we're at the 5 yard line, first and goal. Is Johnny Dixon going to be the next Devin ? What about Paris Campbell ? It seems like the talent is there, but at this point, it is definitely a concern for me. Does anyone on 11W feel the same way I do ?
Why am I feeling so nervous about our WR's ?
