Ohio State football fan talk.

Is there a good way to catch others up on rules or what dynamics have an impact on a game?

Hey guys, so this is my first forum post as I just recently remembered my login...But I've been an avid reader for a few years now. I guess I need to start with a huge pet peeve of mine is when somebody doesn't fully understand the rules or what is actually happening in a game, but continues to complain about things that are clearly in the rule book. An example I can give of this is that due to the Navy game being on CBS sports or whatever I had to go to the student union to be able to watch the game. During the game we all remember the TD Navy had where they tapped the front of the pylon. There was another student complaining for a full 15 minutes that he didn't even get to the goal line ever, and no way that was a touchdown, because he didn't know the rule that if you touch the pylon with the ball it's the same as touching the goal line. Now I'm not saying I can agree or disagree with the actual call on the field as to whether he was in or not as I still feel it was too close to see even on review and being the son of an official, the call is what they judge, but to complain when you don't know the rules of the game always irked me. Continuing the story the same student continued to complain about JT early in the third quarter before his big pass when our offense was still continuing to struggle saying things like "oh, see this is what happens when you put all your eggs into one basket with one guy" and stupid shit like that. (even though JT had completed like 75-80% of his passes at that point) because he didn't understand the simple fact that the offense looked awful more because the line couldn't block anybody than the QB was garbage, but he continued to harp and complain and eventually I couldn't take it anymore and had to explain to him that if he didn't understand the rules or how the game is played and notice that JT was not the problem, to just shut up and watch. Now I don't like being "that guy" but I think playing for 16 years and being the son of an official sort of stokes that pet peeve. My question is, do you know of any good links or videos that you could send somebody that just doesn't fully understand what they are watching? I feel as though it would be good to have something to help our fellow Buckeye fans that just started a little late. Kind of something like the Buckeye pre-game show does with the chalkboard talk or something.

Another example of not understanding the rules might be the FSU-ND pass interference. No you can't block before the ball is caught. Yes, the receiver would have been fine if it had been an actual "rub" and tried to at least fake a route instead of straight up blocking.

Anyways it was just an idea to help create an even more informed fan base. Also, it might be helpful if your girlfriend didn't quite understand as well?
