While watching the Alabama/Georgia football game, with a 28-0 lead, some announcers were suggesting that Alabama would not miss Nick Saban at all, and that their new coach might just be an improvement. Additionally, after the game on the Paul Finebaum Show, Matt Barrie (ESPN Studio Host) boldly stated that what Kalen DeBoer did in that game gave Alabama closure on the Nick Saban era. Barrie went on to say Alabama now knows they are in good hands and that Alabama is not going anywhere.
After the game Vanderbilt gave the Tide on Saturday, these same individuals are not acting so proud and talking so loud about DeBoer. I am not suggesting DeBoer will not be a good hire, however, before putting him on the same level as Saban it would be prudent to make him earn the accolades. What a difference a week makes.
