Michigan's QB1 will be back in 2026.

Bryce Underwood announced Monday that he'll remain in Ann Arbor to play for the Wolverines under new head coach Kyle Whittingham.

Underwood flashed in his first season at Michigan, as the 6-foot-4, 228-pound quarterback completed 60.3% of his passes for 2,428 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions and ran for another 392 yards and six scores. He led the Wolverines to a 9-4 record, with each of the team's losses coming against top-25 programs Oklahoma, USC, Ohio State and Texas.

Earlier on Monday, Whittingham appeared on Fox Sports' Wake Up Barstool and hinted that Underwood's announcement could be coming soon. Whittingham said he is excited to see what the former No. 1 overall prospect will accomplish while he develops as Michigan's signal caller.

"He has enjoyed his time here, and he is one of the team leaders," Whittingham said. "He’s a young guy, but he’s one of the team leaders, obviously by virtue of the position. And so he is a guy that we think is going to be a part of what we’re doing going forward."
