Indiana will be without one of its top defenders in the College Football Playoff.

Hoosiers coach Curt Cignetti confirmed Wednesday that defensive end Stephen Daley suffered a "serious" injury that "will probably make him not available for the remainder of the season."

Rumors of Daley's injury began circulating after Indiana's Big Ten Championship Game celebration, when photos and videos on social media showed Daley seated on a cart with members of the Hoosiers' training staff, his right leg outstretched and braced, after he landed awkwardly on his leg while celebrating with Indiana fans after the game.

Daley played the entire game against the Buckeyes, recording six pressures, four quarterback hurries and one sack in Indiana's team's 13-10 win. One of those pressures came on the game's final snap, forcing Julian Sayin to roll out and complete a 46-yard pass to Jeremiah Smith as time expired.

Daley's absence is a significant blow for Indiana, which also lost defensive end Kellen Wyatt to a season-ending injury earlier this fall. Fellow defensive end Mikail Kamara has been playing through an injury but is expected to be fully healthy when the Hoosiers face either Oklahoma or Alabama in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 2026.

Daley ranks second in the FBS this season with 19 tackles for loss.

With Daley and Wyatt sidelined, Indiana will likely turn to Daniel Ndukwe to start opposite Kamara. Ndukwe has appeared in 10 games this season, recording six tackles and one tackle for loss.
