In front of 100,189 fans at Ohio Stadium — the largest ever to attend a spring football game — the Joe Burrow-led Gray team knocked off Scarlet on Saturday, 28-17. The Scarlet team was quarterbacked by both Stephen Collier and J.T. Barrett.

Burrow finished the game 14-for-23 passing for 196 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Burrow's 47-yard touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin in the third quarter all but sealed the win for the Gray team. McLaurin led all receivers with four catches for 111 yards.

Malik Hooker, playing for the Gray team, led all defensive players with 10 tackles. Davon Hamilton (Gray) had three sacks while Jashon Cornell (Scarlet) had a pair for his team. Jerome Baker also made a ridiculous one-handed interception.

Most of the scoring came in the first half as the Gray team held a 21-10 lead at halftime.

After a 42-yard field goal by Sean Nuernberger gave Scarlet an early 3-0 lead, Hooker intercepted a Barrett pass and returned it 82 yards for a touchdown to put Gray on top, 7-3. Hooker also intercepted Collier in the second half.

Burrow then hooked up with Torrance Gibson for a pair of first-half touchdown passes, the first of which on an 18-yard strike in the corner of the end zone. Gibson's second first-half touchdown was a 2-yard score off a jet sweep.

Redshirt freshman running back Mike Weber cut the deficit to 11 for the Scarlet team with a 2-yard touchdown run right before halftime. Weber also scored from 8 yards out in the second half and finished the game with eight carries for 38 yards.

Burrow was 6-for-9 passing for 92 yards and the two scores in the first half; Barrett was just 13-of-22 with a pair of interceptions as his day came to an end after one half. Weber had seven carries for 30 yards and a score, while Marcus Baugh caught seven first-half passes for 64 yards. For the Gray team, McLaurin had two first-half catches for 54 yards in the first half, while Gibson had three grabs for 31 yards.
