Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor, whom the franchise signed to a six-year, $92 million deal in August, finished last season third in the AFC East and 7-9 overall.

Head coach Rex Ryan didn't even make it through the season as the Bills fired him in December.

Buffalo hired Sean McDermott, formerly the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, in January. McDermott inherited a stable that includes Taylor, former Florida State quarterback E.J. Manuel, and former Ohio State national championship hero Cardale Jones.

Speaking Wednesday, McDermott wouldn't tab Taylor as his starting quarterback. (Speculation swirls the Bills could release the former Virginia Tech star.)

If that happens, it could clear the way for Jones.

McDermott had this to say, via Buffalo ABC Bills beat reporter Joe Buscaglia:

The Bills selected Jones in the fourth round with the 139th overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. He appeared in one game in 2016, a season-ending 30-10 loss to the New York Jets, and went 6-11 for 96 yards and an interception.
