An Ohio State footballer hasn't won a national award since 2008 when Malcolm Jenkins took home the Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back.

That drought could end Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN if Pat Elflein wins the Rimington Trophy (given to the nation's top center) or Cam Johnston wins the Ray Guy Award (given to the nation's best punter).

Elflein winning the Rimington Trophy—one of his biggest preseason goals—would be doubly impressive considering he didn't play center until earlier this year.

In the video above, Ohio State's captain talks about what makes him a successful player and what it would mean to win the Rimington Trophy.
