Urban Meyer Says Ohio State Defensive Tackle Tommy Schutt Out For Fiesta Bowl With Broken Foot

Ohio State was already down one starting defensive tackle when it was announced Adolphus Washington was suspended for the Jan. 1 Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame. On Sunday, as the team arrived in Phoenix, Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer announced his team would be without another.

Tommy Schutt will not play in the game due to a broken foot, Meyer announced, via multiple reporters who were at the team's arrival. The senior defensive tackle's Ohio State career is over.

Meyer announced Dec. 17 at the team's Fiesta Bowl media day Schutt suffered a foot injury in practice but he was not sure of the severity. 

For the season, Schutt started 10 games for Ohio State at nose guard. He missed both the Rutgers and Minnesota games due to a wrist fracture. On the year, Schutt recorded 25 tackles (five for loss) and 2.5 sacks.

The Buckeyes face the Fighting Irish 1 p.m. New Year's Day.
