Ohio State got better Monday night when Jake Metzer, Kornblue Kicking's No. 2 college transfer punter, accepted walk-on offer.

In a celebratory tweet, Metzer thanked Urban Meyer, Kerry Coombs, and new special teams support staffer Adam Scheier for the opportunity:

"I took a visit on Friday and it just felt right," Metzer told Eleven Warriors. "I liked the coaching staff, the facilities, and the common vision."

Metzer originally enrolled at Penn State in 2015, though the Nittany Lions never officially rostered him. Metzer, a computer engineering major, has three years of eligibility remaining.

Per his Kornblue Kicking profile:

Jake is currently the Fab 50’s #2 ranked college transfer punter nationally. Jake’s size is an asset as he stands 6’2″ 225.

Jake showed off a huge leg at a private workout with Coach Kornblue in Naples, FL (March 2017). Several punts charted hang times of 5.0+ seconds.

That workout can be seen in the video above.

Metzer will compete with grayshirt freshman Drue Chrisman, the No. 1 punter of the 2016 recruiting class, to replace four-year starter Cam Johnston this fall.
