The Hurry Up is your nightcap of Ohio State recruiting news, catching you up on the day’s events with an ear on the ground for what’s next.

BRENDON WHITE PUTTING IN WORK

When he committed to the Buckeyes last October, Olentangy Libery's Brendon White was just on the cusp of being a national recruiting name. An Ohio State legacy, the talented two-way prospect jumped quickly on the chance to commit to the Buckeyes after they offered. Since then, he's rocketed up the national rankings, especially after a breakthrough spring that saw him earn an invite to both the Rivals Five-Star Challenge and The Opening after big-time camp performances.

This morning, at 6 a.m., White was putting in the kind of work that has made him one of the country's best prospects and, in doing so, attempted to do a little recruiting for the future of Ohio State football.

White made sure social media was all over his workout partner; Westerville South's Jaelen Gill

While there's no doubt that Gill is likely leaning towards the Buckeyes, he may have found White's attempts to paint him Scarlet and Gray a bit maddening, at least for his phone's battery.

White's efforts on the recruiting trail certainly aren't limited to players inside the Columbus metropolitan area.

"Brendon White has been all over the place for us," a source close to the Buckeyes said. "He's got future captain written all over him. He's a guy that leads without really having to try, it's really natural and he's going to be special here."

MARTELL VIDEO FROM ELITE 11

Tate Martell is arguably Ohio State's top 2017 quarterback target and this past weekend he earned a spot in Nike's The Opening following his performance at the Elite 11 semifinals in Los Angeles.

The 5-foot-10, 205-pound Martell, the country's top-ranked dual-threat quarterback, was among the most consistent and outstanding performers at the event and that's why he'll be heading to Oregon next month.

247Sports has video of Martell's performance.

SCOUT 300 UPDATED

It's the time of year when rankings get updated and players get ticked off by being moved down, ignored or otherwise slighted. Rankings across the recruiting networks are certainly subjective but they provide a ton of interesting fodder for our discussion.

Today, Scout.com updated their Top 300 list for 2017 and we'll take a quick look at the Buckeyes' commitments and targets that found their way on to the list.

Ohio State commitments, beginning with five-star Josh Myers.

  • No. 17 • Josh Myers • OL • Miamisburg, Ohio
  • No. 32 • Haskell Garrett • DT • Las Vegas, Nevada
  • No. 46 • Shaun Wade • DB • Jacksonville, Florida
  • No. 55 • Jake Moretti • OL • Pomona, Colorado
  • No. 72 • Isaiah Pryor • DB • Lawrenceville, Georgia
  • No. 78 • JK Dobbins • RB • La Grange, Texas
  • No. 98 • Marcus Williamson • DB • Westerville, Ohio
  • No. 153 • Brendon White • ATH • Powell, Ohio
  • No. 205 • Jerron Cage • DT • Cincinnati, Ohio
  • No. 274 • Antjuan Simmons • LB • Ann Arbor, Michigan

With seven commitments in Scout's Top 100, Ohio State – as they do with in all the major networks – leads the team rankings for 2017. Alabama, with four commitments in Top 100, is the only other program to have more than two in that illustrious group.

FULL RIVALS 250 RELEASED TODAY AS WELL

Yesterday we talked about the Rivals 100 and the six Buckeyes therein, and today the oldest national recruiting network out there updated their full Top 250, so we'll continue to take a look at all the names you need to know on that list.

Lists are fun, right?

Two more Buckeye commitments ended up in the Top 250.

  • No. 123 • Haskell Garrett • DT • Las Vegas, Nevada
  • No. 214 • Antjuan Simmons • LB • Ann Arbor, Michigan

A number of targets on Rivals' list remain in the mix for Ohio State.

  • No. 101 • Kellen Mond • QB • San Antonio, Texas
  • No. 105 • Shawn Robinson • QB • DeSoto, Texas
  • No. 117 • Danny Davis • WR • Springfield, Ohio
  • No. 125 • Darnell Ewell • DT • Norfolk, Virginia
  • No. 148 • Jamyest Williams • DB • Grayson, Georgia
  • No. 149 • Anthony Hines III • LB • Plano, Texas
  • No. 174 • Ambry Thomas • DB • Detroit, Michigan
  • No. 184 • Jaylen Harris • WR • Cleveland, Ohio
  • No. 229 • James Hudson • DE • Toledo, Ohio
  • No. 236 • Amir Riep • DB • Cincinnati, Ohio

These lists, especially when they're released at a similar time, are pretty interesting to watch. The 247Sports.com composite ranking for Jackson, Tennessee offensive lineman Trey Smith is No. 48 but that's because he's not ranked in Rivals Top 250 (!) despite being a Top 6 player nationally on both Scout and 247Sports.

Why those kind of absences/differences across the networks appear is anyone's guess, but Plano, Texas, linebacker Anthony Hines, who is ranked No. 74 in the composite rankings and will visit Ohio State this weekend, posited an interesting query on Twitter after the release of the list.

Hines was one of Rivals' biggest "droppers" – moving from No. 107 to No. 149 – and it was noticed by some that the aforementioned Trey Smith didn't participate in their camps either.
