The Hurry Up is your nightcap of Ohio State recruiting news, catching you up on the day’s events with an ear on the ground for what’s next.

POTTER WILL SIGN WEDNESDAY, NO RECLASSIFICATION

There had been some discussion that Ohio State 2016 basketball commitment Micah Potter – formerly of Mentor High School and now at Florida's Montverde Academy – would reclassify and sign in the 2017 class. Consider that conversation squashed.

The country's 23rd-ranked center, Potter is a 6-foot-10, 245-pounder who is as adept on the perimeter as he is with his back to the basket.

Welcome to Ohio State, Micah.

NEW 2017 LINEBACKER OFFER

Ohio State has landed two commitments from players who suited up for the IMG Academy in 2016 (Tyler Gerald, Malik Barrow) and last night they went back to the well and offered another, 2017 linebacker Jordan Anthony, a 6-foot-1, 215-pounder originally from Olney, Maryland.

Anthony is a four-star linebacker prospect ranked as the 97th overall player in the 2017 class and the fifth-ranked outside linebacker.

The Buckeye offer is his 13th, and Urban Meyer's staff joins Auburn, Clemson, Michigan, Penn State and Oklahoma as the top names on the list. There is a long way to go in his recruitment, but the Ohio State offer, extended by Larry Johnson, is an eye-opener this early.

"I've had most of my contact with (Larry) Johnson," Anthony told Eleven Warriors. "My coach last year told me they were interested but I couldn't have contact with them last year because i wasn't allowed to."

Ohio State is trying to get the IMG linebacker up for a visit – and he's trying to make that happen on November 21st.

"Ohio State definitely moved up on my list of schools that I am looking at and I hope to get down there soon to check out the campus and meet the coaches," he added. "There is a chance (I could be there for Michigan State), but we're still planning with my parents. We are not sure yet."

With only one home game left, if Anthony doesn't make it in two weeks it's ikely that they won't see him until the winter or spring, perhaps for one of their January junior days.

JAHSEN WINT COULD BE A PLAYER TO WATCH

Last week it was North Carolina's Myles Dorn who found his way into the "new names to watch" category of 2016 defensive backs and this week it's Erasmus Hall (Brooklyn) standout Jahsen Wint who moves into that group.

"In the beginning of October they saw me play," Wint told 11W. "They started following me and we've been talking since, Chris Ash and Mark Pantoni mostly."

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Wint is committed to Temple, but he's not closing the door on another program if the right offer comes his way. Regardless, right now he's trying to prepare for the playoffs and worry less about recruiting.

"I'm happy to hear from a school like Ohio State," he said. "It makes me feel like they see what kind of a player I can be. There are other schools trying to get in contact but my coach wants me to focus on the season."

Wint said a potential visit to Columbus, where his former teammate Curtis Samuel is a blossoming star, is a possibility after the season.

"They're asking me to come visit after the season," Wint added. "They're coming to see me again in December too."

WESTON BRIDGES CATCHING OHIO STATE'S ATTENTION

Ohio State's 2017 running back recruiting will be nothing if not calculated from this point forward. With Todd Sibley, Jr. already in the mix, there's no need for another running back in the class at this point, but it'd be a bit of an upset if Sibley ended up as the only one they sign in 2017.

If they do make a run at another ball carrier next year, one player to watch is Copley (Ohio) running back Weston Bridges, a 5-foot-11, 190-pounder with offers from Toledo, Bowling Green, Kent State and Akron but he's beginning to hear from a number of big-time programs.

"I've been hearing from Alabama, Penn State, Illinois, Duke, UCLA and Ohio State," Bridges said. "I've been talking to Tony Alford and Ed Warinner, both of them told me happy birthday last week, which kind of made my day (laughs)."

The conversations with Ohio State are in their infancy, but there's not much doubt that the Buckeyes interest is catching his attention.

"I have always been a Buckeye fan," Bridges said. "They want me to come visit in the offseason and show me what Ohio State is all about."

Copley takes on Hudson in this weekend in the second round of the OHSAA playoffs. On the season Bridges has rushed for more than 1600 yards and has scored 31 total touchdowns.
