Ohio State Commit Tyler Green Rocks Buckeye Gear, Throws up the 'O' in Ann Arbor

By 11W Staff on June 17, 2014 at 7:15p

A week ago, safety Tyler Green committed to Urban Meyer and Ohio State. Today, he was in Ann Arbor, wearing Buckeye gear and throwing up the "O" at Michigan's indoor facility.

The world's classiest thing to do? Probably not. Guaranteed to make Ohio State fans love you? Absolutely.

Nice one Tyler. But why be up there when you could be down here helping us secure the best class in the Nation?

Mark my words..I don't need acceptance. I'm catching interceptions on you innocent pedestrians.

It sounds like it was all in good fun. It was reported he was wearing his OSU shirt inside out for most of the day. The Michigan writer at 247 Sports said he was laughing with the Michigan coaches earlier as I'm sure they "commented" about the shirt to him.

Agreed. This is the stuff that makes the rivalry fun. Harmless stuff.

Nice move no doubt-I wonder if the roles were reversed-would Urban make him change like he did with the reporter in "Training Days," a couple years ago?

As far as it being the "classiest thing to do," I'd gladly take this over Kyle "there will be blood" Kalis...

I need to see a picture of an OSU commit on their M outside.  I'm pretty sure that for an OSU student, stepping on it while taking a picture means that you'll pass your first blue book exam.  :)

He was my favorite 2015 recruit before this, they way he went out and earned his offer, now he's even more awesome!

It's one thing if both schools are recruiting a young man for that player to disrespect their hospitality and flash their rival's trademark pose.  That would be disrespectful.  But, that's not what's going on here. Michigan didn't offer Green, so he wasn't rubbing anyone's nose in it.  It was just a fun way for him to show off for his future teammates.

BRILLIANT!!!  Keeps the rivalry strong and provides some great chuckles!

The blue socks were obviously part of an elaborate ruse to get into the meatchicken facility unscathed... to freely unleash his Buckeye regalia.

Good plan.

a lot of these kids know each other and have a good relationship with the respective coaching staffs. Clearly good fodder. so cheers from me. But, let these guys have fun. the real world comes pretty quickly. they are what, 17, 18 or 19 years old? I can assure you I was the most confident person ignorant of the real world at that age. So don't read too much and let them enjoy life!

Making memories, isn't that what your supposed to do at his age? I'm sure he could have been alot more disrespectful if he wasn't such a quality young man. The fact he wasn't mean spirited with his tweet shows that he respects the rivalry while also embracing it. Just the type of guy that will always be welcome on this team.

I encourage the flair, and am only waiting with baited breath until a Michigan recruit can pull the same.   I saw no malicious disrespect in the young man's actions, and certainly can't blame him for embracing the best rivalry in sports.  I personally think the blue socks are an indication that he could flip his commitment.  Whoa!

NICE!  Kinda like planting a flag on conquered enemy territory.

Good one. My dad once got pulled out of the tour of the White House for making a sign towards Nancy Pelosi's door, all he had to do was explain himself tho. Good to live in a free country and see this kid enjoying himself. Go Bucks!

Go Bucks and michigan STILL SUCKS!

Osurrt's picture

Only thing that would have made it more epic is if he could have convince Brady Joke to stand beside him just as he throws up the "O" and the picture gets snap---lol. While all in good fun, I have to believe that the Michigan folks, while defenseless to stop it, were not happy.

a few years ago my uncle was at the UM medical center for cancer treatment and my mom and i went up to visit him. and let me just say, you can get some sideways looks walking around the campus in ann arbor wearing every piece of OSU clothing the weather allows when it's not a football Saturday.
