In most mock NCAA tournament brackets, Ohio State is seeded anywhere in the 7 to 10 range. In fact, both CBS' Jerry Palm and ESPN's Joe Lunardi have the Buckeyes as a No. 8 seed if the tournament started today.

The odds in Las Vegas, however, tell a bit of a different story. If Vegas was responsible for seeding the tournament, Ohio State would find itself on the 4-line according to this story from the Sporting News.

A bit surprising, for sure, but based on the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook odds used by the Sporting News, the Buckeyes find themselves with 60 to 1 odds to win the national championship. There are only 12 teams listed with better odds to win the title.

One would think the combination of a head coach like Thad Matta and a superstar player like D'Angelo Russell, capable of carrying a team on a long tourney run, led Ohio State to such favorable odds in the Vegas eyes.

Below is how Vegas would seed the top-four teams as of right now with their odds displayed.

NO. 1 SEEDS
  • Kentucky (4-5)
  • Wisconsin (7-1)
  • Duke (8-1)
  • Virginia (12-1)
NO. 2 SEEDS
  • Gonzaga (12-1)
  • Arizona (12-1)
  • Utah (25-1)
  • Villanova (30-1)
NO. 3 SEEDS
  • Kansas (30-1)
  • Louisville (40-1)
  • North Carolina (50-1)
  • Iowa State (50-1)
NO. 4 SEEDS
  • Ohio State (60-1)
  • Oklahoma (75-1)
  • Notre Dame (75-1)
  • Wichita State (75-1)
