Alistair Brownlee, on the verge of winning the race, stopped to carry his dehydrated brother to the finish line. Henri Schoeman took the lead and would go on to win, but at that moment, it clearly didn’t matter to Alistair. He just needed to help his brother.
“I saw my brother wobbling in front of me,” Alistair said afterwards. “The very obvious signs of overheating. And I knew I had to help him to the finish line.”
