Defense has been a strength, which is impressive with eight new starters. DL Michael O'Malley and DB Cameron Wright had interceptions vs. Elder. RB Cole Gest has 514 yards rushing and seven TDs. QB Jimmy Keefe is below 50 percent on completions, but has been on target in key moments, including a 62-yard touchdown pass to Carl Jones vs. Elder. WR Matthew Gonzalez leads the team with 11 catches for 225 yards.
About Bergen Catholic: The Crusaders are No. 1 in the nj.com Top 20. They also – like St. Edward - appear in various national polls. QB Jarrett Guarantano is a Tennessee commit who can throw and run. WR Gene Coleman, who has offers from Syracuse and Rutgers, and Korab Idrizi are top targets for Guarantano. RB Ryan McCarthy is the team's top rusher. LBs Jevon Dunmore and Trevor Weingarten are standouts on defense.
