Another Buckeye was named to a preseason watch list on Thursday – but this time, it’s for the impact he’s made off the field.

Ohio State wide receiver Kamryn Babb was named Thursday as one of 115 nominees for the Wuerffel Trophy, which “honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society, and inspire greater service in the world.”

While Babb enters his fifth season at Ohio State having yet to catch a pass in his career due to repeated knee injuries, he’s revered within the Woody Hayes Athletic Center as a team leader. A returning captain from last season, Babb has been described by his position coach Brian Hartline as “a guy that, when you look back, probably has made more of an impact on others than maybe anybody else around this team.” Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud described Babb on Wednesday as “the backbone of our team.”

Babb joins a list of Buckeyes on preseason watch lists that includes Stroud (Maxwell and Davey O’Brien awards), TreVeyon Henderson (Maxwell and Doak Walker awards), Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Maxwell and Biletnikoff awards), Paris Johnson Jr. (Outland Trophy), Dawand Jones (Outland Trophy), Luke Wypler (Rimington Trophy), Zach Harrison (Nagurski Trophy), Ronnie Hickman (Jim Thorpe and Nagurski awards), Denzel Burke (Jim Thorpe Award) and Noah Ruggles (Lou Groza Award).
