So you’re asking why Justin Fields looked so human in the Big Ten Championship after watching him drop dimes week after week for a season and a half. Sprained thumb ? Naw, that happened late. 

the pick on the Jameson Williams mis-read says it all. Urban had been explaining to Jerry Dinardo on BTN and to the Fox noon panel all week that NW plays quarters coverage which makes it difficult to throw to the middle of the field - so you have to throw the deep outs to beat it.  This would normally be bread and butter for Fields and a tailor made big day. But now exclude Olave from that formula, and enter “new” receivers, who have had precious few reps on such a timing rout, and it’s a house of cards. Williams showed that on the pick. The National narrative will put it on Fields locking onto the primary receiver and the locals will say he’s under too much pressure allowed by the Oline.  I just think he hasn’t built trust beyond Wilson and Olave.

Last year he had KJ Hill in the mix but this year afforded few opportunities.  (Not sure why Wilson wasn’t open, because we’ve seen him run that deep out many times, but maybe the corner was sitting on that on his side of the field).
