Buckeyes In The NFL Draft: AFC North

In 1936 the NFL held its first draft. Two Buckeyes were selected and thus began the 80 year relationship of Ohio State providing talented players to the NFL machine. This series will break down all eight NFL divisions and the teams that drafted the 416 Ohio State players.

AFC NORTH

Teams in the AFC North have selected 73 Buckeyes. 9 of the 73 were First Round picks and one was the No. 1 overall selection.

Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns have selected more Buckeyes than any other team in the NFL. 32 Ohio State players have been drafted by the Browns. The first Buckeye selected by the Browns was back Walt Kievay in 1952. The last Ohio State player drafted by the Cleveland was wide receiver Brian Robiskie in 2009. 

Highest selected player
Linebacker Jim Houston was the 8th pick of the 1960 NFL Draft. Houston played 13 seasons in the NFL and all of them were with the Browns. He was a Pro Bowl player in 1964, 1965, 1969 and 1970.

Pittsburgh Steelers
22 Ohio State players have been selected by the Steelers. Pittsburgh is second in the AFC North and ranks 6th all-time with 22 Buckeye draft picks. The Steelers have picked more Buckeyes than any other team since 2000. In 1945 tackle Jack Dugger became the first Buckeye to get drafted by the Steelers. Last year defensive back Doran Grant became the latest Ohio State player drafted by Pittsburgh.

Highest selected player
FB Bob Ferguson was selected 5th in the 1962 NFL Draft. Ferguson only played two seasons in the NFL. A head injury limited him to one year with the Steelers and one with the Vikings. He finished his career with 66 carries for 209 yards and a touchdown over 20 games.

Doran Grant
Last year Doran Grant became the 8th Buckeye drafted by the Steelers since 2000. 

Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati is No. 3 in the AFC North and ranks 11th all-time with 17 Ohio State draft picks. Tight end Steve Howell became the first Buckeye to get drafted by the Bengals in 1969. In 2013 offensive tackle Reid Fragel became the latest Ohio State player drafted by the Bengals.

Highest selected player
DT Dan Wilkinson was the No. 1 overall draft pick in the 1994 NFL Draft. Wilkinson played his first four seasons with the Bengals. Over his 13-year NFL career he also played for the Redskins, Lions and Dolphins. He was named to Sports Illustrated's All-Pro team in 2003. Wilkinson recorded 388 tackles, 54.5 sacks and 5 interceptions in 195 games. 

Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens are No. 4 in the AFC North and rank 29th all-time with 2 Buckeye draft picks. The first Buckeye selected by the Ravens was quarterback Troy Smith in 2007. The last Ohio State player drafted by the Ravens was linebacker John Simon in 2013. 

Highest selected player
Linebacker John Simon was the 129th pick of the 2013 NFL Draft. Simon was with the Ravens for one season. He played for the Texans in 2014 and 2015. Simon has made 69 tackles and 6.5 sacks in 34 games.
