Ohio State was able to improve its numbers in seven statistical categories. Most impressive are the rushing results against Alabama's 2nd ranked rush defense. The Buckeyes were able to gain 281 yards on the ground. Ezekiel Elliott, the Sugar Bowl Offensive MVP, was responsible for 230 of those yards.
Other offensive stats Ohio State improved in were passing, total offense, 3rd down conversion and red zone scoring.
The two defensive stats Ohio State made a positive impact in were 3rd down conversion and net punting. The Buckeyes' defense was stout on third down. Alabama was only able to convert on 2 of 13 third downs.
Positive numbers are good for Ohio State.
