The last Ohio State head coach to win Big Ten Coach of the Year was Earl Bruce in 1979. Since that time the Buckeyes have won 13 Big Ten Championships. Under JT, it became clear that the Buckeyes were such overwhelming favorites to win each year that there was nothing JT could ever do to exceed expectations, and the award morphed from COTY into COTY (who is not Jim Tressel). This year, MSU was the favorite and the Buckeyes beat them, new guy James Franklin has four conference losses and Urban has taken a team that everyone had left for dead and has them leading the conference rankings. The only candidate with a case this year is Jerry Kill. So, here is the question: if Meyer beats Kill next week and the Buckeyes go on to win the conference, does an Ohio State coach finally win Big Ten COTY, or could Kill still win it if Minnesota wins out after a loss to the Buckeyes?
Meyer vs Kill for B1G COTY?
