In some mini-camp roster moves, the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed rookie free agent Jordan Hall. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. From the team's press release:

Hall (5-9, 191) participated in the Steelers’ 2014 Rookie Mini-Camp as a tryout player. He saw action in 45 games at Ohio State, making 10 starts. Hall posted 3,486 all-purpose yards, which was good for 12th best all-time on the school record chart. He also posted the single-season school record with 683 kickoff return yards in 2011. Hall rushed for 1,568 yards with 14 rushing touchdowns, and he totaled 19 overall touchdowns in his collegiate career (2009-2013).

Hall joins former Buckeye teammates Ryan Shazier and Cameron Heyward in Pittsburgh. Heyward has been a solid performer in his first two seasons on the team's defensive line, and Shazier was the darling of OTAs, snagging a big interception and impressing the staff and media.

Former Ohio State All-America linebacker and longtime Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau said that Shazier's speed allows him to do "just about anything you can imagine."

He is fast enough, agile enough to assume a lot of roles in the defense. What attracted us to him when he blitzed in college he got on the quarterback so fast. That is something offenses can’t acclimate yourself to. He is going to be able to do that. We will blitz him and try to have some deceit in there when he covers and blitzes some. He is probably one of the fastest linebackers in the league right now.

Congratulations to Hall for earning a spot on the roster. For those of us rooting for that team across the river, this is really great news.
