Scott Stricklin's proposal for a 5 year athletic eligibility (http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2015/2/18/8061217/college-sport...) looks to be getting a little traction, and I must say it looks to be better than automatic first year ineligibility, which is asinine. My #take is that you don't need to fix what isn't broken.
That said, it does raise an interesting point that I have not seen addressed: with five years of eligibility, what do we call the fifth class? i.e. freshmen, sophomore, junior, senior, ...graduate? (even though the rule wouldn't mandate getting a graduate degree). do you call the first class something like "prefreshman"? If 'prefreshman' becomes a word I have to use, I immediately revoke any and all support for this plan.
