I had some trouble logging into FB this morning. I messed with it for 45 minutes. I had all kinds of strange results while trying to recover/change password. Being an IT guy, it seriously felt like I was being hacked in real time.

After checking Downdetector.com, it looks like many sites were down. Amazon Web Services (AWS) pretty much owns the internet (along with Microsoft, they own 55% of market share). AWS was partially down, so when that happens pretty much everybody else is too. Guessing that was the issue.

I don't like that certain companies get so large, that a single outage brings the internet to its knees. Fortunately, it came back up within an hour or so, so whatever recovery process they had, must have worked - So that is a good thing on that front.
