Wreaths Across America is still needs more than 55,000 wreaths to place at the headstone of veterans buried at the Dayton National Cemetery, the organization said Monday.

So far, the non-profit said it has sold just over 1,600 wreaths, which is well behind numbers from 2020.

The deadline to order the wreaths is Tuesday and the ceremony to place the wreaths is held nationwide, including at the Dayton National Cemetery on Dec. 18 at noon.

In 2020, about 1.7 million veterans; wreaths were placed by volunteers on headstones at more than 2,500 locations around the country.

“These brave men and woman have always believed that maybe one day no one will need to sacrifice as they did to preserve freedoms. This operation brings generations of families together to show their love and appreciation to these families that have lost so much,” the organization said.
