As a distraction to the NSD threads, and in honor of the weekly tailgate fare recipes 3M had during the season, just wanted to see if anyone had any good recipes to make for a Super Bowl party.
My sister has already told me that I have to make soft pretzels as punishment for having to drive from Cincy to Delaware with my parents the other day while I had a nice quiet drive by myself.
I use the recipe I found from King Arthur Flour, http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/hot-buttered-soft-pretzels-and-pr...
DOUGH
2 1/2 cups King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
7/8 to 1 cup warm water*
TOPPING
1 cup boiling water
2 tablespoons baking soda
coarse, kosher or pretzel salt, optional
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Knead the dough for 5 minutes, then place it somewhere warm and let it rest for 30 to get it to rise.
Preheat the oven to 475
Combine water and baking soda. Start rolling the little bastards out, and dip them in the baking soda solution. Place them on a tray (I use parchment paper) and sprinkle them with salt. Once out of the oven give them a healthy brush of the melted butter.
