Cleveland, Ohio is Heartbreak City and will sadly have to wait even longer for a championship. But outside of the Buckeyes, the rest of Ohio isn't doing too well either. In Cincinnati the Bengals are more often a punch line than anything else and the Reds haven't proven relevance on the diamond since Eddie George won a Heisman and haven't delivered since Kirk Herbstreit was QB. The Blue Jackets in their short history have only made the playoffs twice and were bounced in the first round both times. Whether we know it or not the despair of the rest the teams in Ohio make us love our Buckeyes even more. Because our Buckeyes win, and they battle for greatness almost every year, and Buckeye winning soothes the burns. Ezekiel Elliot torching four opponents for a national title makes the Reds not winning in the post-season for 20 years hurt a little less. Cardale Jones running over defensive lineman eases the pain of the Cavs losing in their two NBA Finals appearances. Joey Bosa and Mike Bennett's dominance makes the Bengals 25 years of post season incompetence sting a little less. Evan Spencer's pass to Mike Thomas takes a little pressure off the headache of the Browns endless line of quarterbacks that aren't getting it done. Steve Miller's pick six touchdown makes us forget about the Indians last title being during the Truman Administration. Devin Smith catching bombs against everyone makes the Jackets 2-8 playoff record seem not so bad. So when it hurts being a Cavalier, a Brown, a Bengal, a Red, an Indian, a Blue Jacket, and anything else from High School sports to the minor leagues; we are all Buckeyes, and it's great to be a Buckeye.
