Atlanta, Santa Clara, New Orleans Named Future Sites for 2018, 2019 and 2020 College Football Playoff National Championships

The College Football Playoff is expanding across the United States.

Atlanta, Santa Clara and New Orleans are future sites for the Playoff National Championship game in 2018, 2019 and 2020, executive director Bill Hancock announced Tuesday afternoon at the Big Ten offices in Rosemont, Illinois.

Atlanta is set to host the game Jan. 8, 2018, Santa Clara is on Jan. 7, 2019 and New Orleans is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2020.

Other cities that submitted bids in May to host the title game were as follows:

2018: Bay Area (Santa Clara), Houston and South Florida;

2019: Charlotte, Detroit, Houston, New Orleans and San Antonio; and

2020: Bay Area (Santa Clara), Charlotte, Houston, Minneapolis and San Antonio.

Ohio State won the first-ever College Football Playoff national championship game, 42-20, against Oregon Jan. 12 in Dallas. This season's title game is scheduled for Glendale, Arizona, Jan. 11, while next season's is set for Tampa, Florida, Jan. 9, 2017.
