I will slump into a deep fit of depression if that happens.......

Still refusing to visit that website.....who does he say we lose to?  4 losses in the B1G?  Peeeshhaawwww.

Apparently State Penn finishes above us in the division, with Wisky winning it.

Please, be honest. This is for science.

Wow.  So he doesn't actually committ to who beats us.  I'm thinking Wisconisn, Michigan State, Penn State, and Michigan are his B1G losses and his OOC loss is Nebraska.

Obvious brain cramp here but Nebraska is now part of the conference schedule.

What the hell, thanks for the correction.  So he thinks we lose to Miami, or would that be our bowl loss?

Another Jason's picture

7-5 wouldn't include a bowl, so it must be Miami.  He mentions the 'Canes being "senior-laden," so I'd say his losses are Miami, Michigan State, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Penn State.  That's not too outlandish, but I'd be surprised if it actually happened.

Losing three games at HOME! (EDIT) my comment looked insane in a bad way.  I don't think there is a way in hell we lose three games in the 'Shoe.

lol... That makes me laugh. Really, I don't remember the last time we won only 7 games.

Man ol Man there are hardly five teams that can beat us in the nation let alone in the big ten.

2001, Tress's first season. But i'd be shocked if we win less than 9.

This guy has no clue.  All he knows is T.p is gone and so is Tressel.  I like the underdog role though.

Agreed. Not many are giving much of a chance for anything meaningful with tOSU this season & I wouldn't have it any other way.

His POY is some kid from Iowa i've never heard of before.

Actually, Coker had a pretty good day against the Buckeyes in last year's game.  So while I'm not convinced he will be POY, he might do some big things.  70 yds on 9 carries against the Silver Bullets with a TD.  Mandel is crazy if he thinks Buckeyes go 7-5, though, just based on the defense alone.

tampa buckeye's picture

well that td was one of 3 he had on the entire year.  not impressed.

Bucks's picture

Beat me to it. Psht. :P

nuff said.

Can anyone quantitatively convince me that big red really has a chance at winning the conference?  I mean, did you see that bowl game against Wash.?  WTF?

Just look at their schedule.  There's no way they win the B1G this year, and I think they're more likely to finish 4-4 in conference than we are.  They play the teams that had the 8 best records last year.  @Wisconsin and full-strength Ohio State back-to-back.  They end the year with @Penn State @Michigan and then Farmageddon at home.  Fewer than 3 B1G losses this year would be an accomplishment.

yrro's picture

Yeah... I'm not seeing it. At all...

OSU would have to lose every single toss-up game in our season, and Michigan, to come out that badly. I think we go 50/50 and end up at worst 9-3 or 8-4. We still have the best running backs in the conference, the best D-line, one of the better offensive lines, and more talent on hand than anyone else.

And honestly, setting the braxton miller hype machine aside, we have several quarterbacks who have been in the system multiple years, all of whom are capable of handing the ball off 30-40 times a game and occasionally chucking it deep.

The loss of Tressel will be felt much more in the middle to long-term future than it will be this year.

rampageripster's picture

that is a lot of bowl eligible teams though.... seems like he thinks the B1G will do well out of conference... I just don't see 5 losses on this schedule... I don't get the hype for Miami... they are basically in the same boat as us (new coach, no QB) but we have the MUCH better defense and oline...

Cause I couldn't go for three

Shock-G's picture

I'll admit, I have said this team can be anywhere from 7-6 and 14-0 ... neither of which I see as the realistic outcome of the season but both within the realm of feasability.

Honestly, this team probably finishes around 9-4.

I'm tired of hearing about 7 lost starters ... Moeller and Barnett both come back from injuries and the revolving door that has been the front 7 lends itself to a lot of experience.

I wanna go back to Ohio State ...

He has Northwestern going 5-3 and OSU going 4-4 in the conference. What a douche.

Full disclosure: He went to NU. As did Rittenberg, Lesmerises and many, many others.

Normally, this is a good thing as there's no chance they'll be homers when they write b/c their program is so historically bad.
