I bet this guy did it...

Lol....that's immediately what came to my mind. Well played, Unk.
(Or maybe they're "redesigning" for Raekwon)

At least it's spelled correctly.

Class of 2010.

Someone needs hit F5.  If you click the link provided, it actually corrects itself and turns out normal.

Actually, it depends on your magnification. If you're at 200ft scale or more (i.e., seeing more and more of the Earth), the letters are still 'in transit', the area to the east of the field is still undeveloped, and the field to the west is empty. But if you zoom in to 100ft or less, a different image is used, and in that image the lettering is correct, the east area is (apprently) plain field turf (maybe it's grass), and there's a lacrosse game happening on the west field.

I wouldn't call it "correcting itself", it is simply a newer image.  "Correcting itself" implies google somehow screwed up the image which isn't what happened.

Buckman's picture

If Google didn't screw it up then what happened?

I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault.

Unky Buck's picture

Google has the correct the image. The field just wasn't completed when it was originally taken. It has since been fixed with a new image, but the old one is still archived.

Well somebody goofed.
Whenever I'm on Google Earth, I always go to the street view of michigan stadium and click the box that says "Report a Problem" in hopes they get rid of it.  So far it hasn't worked.

I'm not finished!  Before we let you leave, your commander must cross that field, present himself before this army, put his head between his legs, and kiss his own arse.

this is downright...ugly. im sad and about to throw up right now..

there is no greater joy than watching Michigan get slammed. in anything

It looks pretty good in the Apple ad T-Rex shot.

Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

I like the endzone of the field on the left so much more (text issue aside of course).

Next? Comic sans....

So you're saying it was Dan Gilbert?

Earle's picture

It's pretty obvious to me that there was a lack of cohesion in coaching philosophy between the Google guy and the end zone guy.

Snarkies gonna snark.

Edit: That's not a compression issue like I thought earlier, after actually looking at the image in the link.

SHAKENBAKE68's picture

Yes...been a lot of weird things going on in outer space. Think we can sign this dude up for our Defensive Line?  I think he fits right in!! ;)

There is no such thing as "friendly fire"..

Why do I feel like this was posted last year in the spring? I could be wrong though.

It's a decoy. GO BUCKS!

I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.

Last year, it was really cool to watch them re-do the field adjacent to the stadium.  It was a similar process as they drug out the letters and rolled out the lines, etc.  Really interesting process.  I can't imagine how hard it is to get that rubber smell out of your clothes after working in it all day long.
