Hooray - it is on here in Toronto!!!  Go Buckeyes - make up for the basketball team's loss to the goooophers.....

The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced

Toronto, Arizona...?

Nope - the Great White North!!!  We got bored with beautiful warm and sunny weather and thought it'd be fun to shovel snow, slip on the 8 inch ice slabs, and feel the sting of -30 degree wind chills....

Bucks couldn't get any shots thru on the PP

Seems to be a lot of snow on the ice. Maybe it's due to being outside.

Bucks need to lose that football look to their helmets. To many stripes

Tuned in late. I was watching the Blue Jackets beat Washington 5 - 1, but the Bucks are holding their own against the Gophers.

First of all, six degrees is cold no matter how tough you are.
Second, what happened with George Gwozdecky? The guy won 2 national championships and went to the NCAA tournament almost every year at Denver. We don't even look at him and now he is just an assistant with Tampa Bay? I support Rohlik and will always cheer for our Buckeyes, but what the heck happened there?
Also, love me some Big Ten conference hockey!

I think he is a assistant with Tampa Bay. If i recall, his name was thrown around as a candidate, but that's as far as it went. He's almost 60 so he's no spring chicken plus when you have the dumbest AD in college athletics heading you sports programs, is it any wonder why the top coaches aren't interviewed?

MarkC's picture

He still has a least five (and more like 10+) good years left in him. Gene Smith takes a lot of criticism, but I generally think he does a good job. This one I flat out don't get though. Most of our programs are set up to win at the highest level (from tennis to lacrosse to wrestling, etc, not to mention football and basketball). We had a chance to land the home run hockey coach (top level recruiter and coach with a creative attack, combined with the beginning of the Big Ten hockey conference) and we chose the up and coming assistant who was already on staff. This feels like if our football program had hired Luke Fickell when Urban Meyer was available.

Both teams playing safe in their zones. D-men are lined up at the blue lines and tough to get through to set up any knd of offense.

Goalie had it then he didn't. Play was set up by careless puck handling by the Buckeyes.

Skjei is the real deal for the Gophers

William's picture

With Skjei and M. Reilly Minnesota has two big time defensive NHL prospects. Fasching also looks to be a stud, he was good at the WJCs for the US this year. There's a reason Minnesota is #1 in the country, they're loaded.

Seattle Linga's picture

Agreed and they do not have a single weakness in any part of their team.

William's picture

They sure don't. All 4 of their lines can score, as well as play a sound two way game, and they have a defensive corps that can skate on the big ice, hit, and QB their power plays. Those capabilities combined with a good goalie make for a pretty formidable team.

Minnesota wins 1-0 on an OSU own goal.  Guess it could have been worse.  Great Game.  Too bad it didnt go to shootout.  OSU powerplay should have scored for the bucks, but team didnt do enough to get shots off. Should have worked harder in the crease.   Maybe next game goes our way.

Repeat tomorrow.
